Job Overview

The Junior Accounts Manager plays an essential role in supporting the organization’s daily financial and accounting functions. Working under the supervision of a Senior Accounts or Finance Manager, this role focuses on maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, managing routine accounting transactions, and ensuring compliance with all accounting standards, statutory regulations, and company policies. The Junior Accounts Manager actively contributes to the preparation of financial statements, audit processes, and management reports that support informed business decisions and promote financial transparency across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Bookkeeping and Data Management

  • Maintain precise and up-to-date financial records in the accounting system.
  • Record all day-to-day financial transactions including sales, purchases, receipts, payments, and adjustments.
  • Ensure that all supporting documents such as bills, vouchers, and receipts are properly verified, filed, and securely stored for easy retrieval.

2. Financial Reporting

  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports including Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements.
  • Generate periodic financial summaries and analytical reports for management review and decision-making.
  • Support in conducting variance analysis to identify deviations or inconsistencies in financial performance and suggest corrective actions.

3. Accounts Payable and Receivable

  • Process and verify vendor invoices accurately to ensure timely and correct payment of dues.
  • Track, record, and reconcile all incoming payments from clients, customers, and business partners.
  • Regularly reconcile supplier and customer ledgers to maintain accurate account balances.

4. Bank and Account Reconciliation

  • Conduct regular reconciliation of bank statements with company financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve any mismatches or discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all reconciliation activities for audit and verification purposes.

5. Budgeting and Forecasting Support

  • Assist in the formulation, review, and monitoring of company budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Gather and analyze financial data to provide insights for improving cost efficiency and effective resource allocation.
  • Support the management team with reports and recommendations to enhance financial planning.

6. Compliance and Audit Assistance

  • Ensure that all accounting operations comply with company policies, accounting standards, and statutory guidelines.
  • Support both internal and external audit activities by preparing and submitting accurate financial data and documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining proper records for GST, TDS, PF, ESI, and other statutory filings.

7. Taxation Support

  • Support in preparing tax returns and related financial documentation as required.
  • Coordinate with auditors, consultants, and authorities to ensure proper compliance with tax regulations.
  • Maintain organized records of all tax-related communications and filings.

8. Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Communicate effectively with vendors, suppliers, and service providers regarding invoices, payment schedules, and account clarifications.
  • Resolve billing or reconciliation issues in coordination with internal teams.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with vendors and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.

9. Process Improvement

  • Identify areas within the accounting workflow that can be optimized for greater accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist in implementing process improvements, automation tools, and accounting software updates.
  • Contribute to developing best practices that enhance productivity and data accuracy within the accounts department.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of Accounting Software: Proficiency in tools such as Tally, QuickBooks, Xero, or Microsoft Excel, with a good understanding of basic accounting systems and principles.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy while recording and verifying financial data to prevent errors or misstatements.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret and analyze financial data, identify irregularities, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills for interacting effectively with clients, vendors, auditors, and internal teams.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time management and multitasking ability to handle various accounting tasks efficiently.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Capable of identifying accounting discrepancies, troubleshooting issues, and implementing corrective measures promptly.
