Job Description

Responsibilities

The Sales Manager is responsible for driving growth in export markets through a mix of new customer acquisition and development of existing customers. This role requires building strong distributor relationships, managing EPC/project opportunities, coordinating with internal teams to ensure excellent execution, and maintaining disciplined pipeline management.


The Sales Manager is responsible for:

  • Building and executing a sales plan to grow exports through distributors, EPCs, and channel partners, aligned to Axis’s broader strategy.
  • Creating and maintaining a healthy opportunity pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and structured follow-ups.
  • Developing existing key accounts by improving service levels, increasing basket size, and strengthening relationships at multiple levels.
  • Negotiating commercial terms within defined guardrails, ensuring alignment with margin and risk standards.
  • Managing channel partners and agents where relevant, including performance tracking and clear communication of expectations.
  • Capturing market and competitor intelligence and feeding insights back into product, pricing, and go-to-market decisions.
  • Ensuring high-quality CRM discipline: pipeline hygiene, account notes, meeting outcomes, and next actions documented consistently.


Team building, leadership, and coaching

  • Hiring and building the right team structure over time, aligned to growth needs.
  • Setting clear goals and scorecards for team members.
  • Coaching team members on prospecting, account management, follow-ups, negotiation, and customer communication.
  • Developing second-line ownership: ensuring key accounts, pipelines, and daily execution can run without single-point dependencies.
  • Driving a culture of accountability, learning, and high standards, while keeping the team motivated and engaged.
  • Providing regular feedback, conducting performance reviews, and creating growth plans for high-potential team members.


Cross-functional execution and process discipline

  • Coordinating closely with internal teams (operations, planning, quality, dispatch, finance) to ensure timely execution and strong customer experience.
  • Continuously improving sales processes to make the team faster, more consistent, and more scalable.

  • Knowledge Skill & Behaviour

    • Strong track record in B2B sales, ideally with experience in exports, industrial products, distributors, or project/EPC selling.
    • Proven people leadership: hiring, coaching, and building a performance-driven team.
    • Techno-Commercial understanding: comfort with pricing logic, margin awareness, payment terms, and negotiation.
    • Operational discipline: ability to coordinate across internal teams to deliver reliably and protect customer trust.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders.
    • Adaptability and flexibility, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and needs.
    • A strong commitment to customer service and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.

    Experience:

    ·       7 – 10 years of sales management experience with a proven track record in the similar industry to meet and exceed the sales targets


    Educational Qualifications:

    ·       Bachelor’s / Masters in Engineering (Electrical or related discipline)

    ·       Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
