Job Role: HR Manager

Job type: Full-time

Location: Vashi, Mumbai

 

About the Role:

A leading East African manufacturing group is building their India GCC to support its core operations in Africa. This role becomes critical in laying the foundation for the HR function in India.

 

The HR Manager will be the first HR hire in India, expected to work closely with senior leadership in Africa to set up people practice and manage all initiatives, starting with recruitment, policy frameworks, employee lifecycle management, and culture building. This is a role with high visibility, cross-border collaboration, and full ownership of the HR agenda.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

HR Business Partnering

  • Work closely with business in Africa to understand the strategic goals and talent requirements of various functions being supported out of India.
  • Act as a thought partner to leadership, providing input on workforce planning and building the right talent capabilities in alignment with business needs.

 

Recruitment & Vendor Management

  • Collaborate with functional leads in Africa to understand role requirements and team structures. Act as the local HR point of contact to service hiring needs through external recruitment partners.
  • Lead end-to-end hiring for the India GCC across functions (tech, finance, support, etc.).
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard relevant external recruitment vendors to service the hiring needs.
  • Define hiring SLAs, drive quality candidate pipelines, and ensure a seamless hiring experience for stakeholders and applicants alike.

Policy Design & HR Infrastructure

  • Develop HR policies, employee handbooks, and people processes for the India office.
  • Set up the internal HR systems (leave, attendance, records, compliance, etc.) and define
  • HR reporting and documentation standards.

 

Employee Lifecycle Management

  • Manage the full employee lifecycle for the India office, including onboarding, policy implementation, performance processes, engagement, grievance redressal, compliance, and exits.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Proven HR experience with a mix of strategic partnering and HR operations.
  • Proven track record in end-to-end recruitment, vendor onboarding, and policy creation.
  • Strong understanding of Indian labour laws and statutory requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with international stakeholders and manage cross-cultural interactions.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a dynamic and growing setup.
