Job Description

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall management, profitability, and operational excellence of the hotel. This role ensures exceptional guest satisfaction, efficient operations, strong financial performance, and compliance with all statutory and brand standards. Key Responsibilities Operations Management Oversee daily hotel operations including Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, Engineering, Security, and Admin. Ensure high standards of guest service and handle VIP guests and major complaints. Implement SOPs to maintain service quality and operational efficiency. Ensure hygiene, safety, and statutory compliance (FSSAI, Fire, GST, Labour laws). Financial Management Prepare and manage annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor revenues, expenses, GOP, and cash flow. Control costs and improve profitability through effective planning. Approve vendor payments, purchases, and contracts as per authority matrix. Sales & Revenue Management Drive room sales, banquet, conference, and F&B revenues. Coordinate with sales, OTA partners, corporates, and travel agents. Analyze occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and implement pricing strategies. Promote the hotel through marketing and local tie-ups. Human Resources Recruit, train, motivate, and retain staff. Conduct performance appraisals and disciplinary actions when required. Build a positive work culture and ensure staff productivity. Ensure compliance with HR policies and labor laws. Guest Relations Maintain strong relationships with guests and corporate clients. Monitor guest feedback, reviews, and ratings on OTAs. Resolve guest complaints promptly and professionally. Asset & Maintenance Management Ensure proper upkeep of hotel property, rooms, and equipment. Plan preventive maintenance and renovations. Control inventory and capital expenditure. Compliance & Reporting Ensure compliance with all legal, statutory, and licensing requirements. Submit periodic operational and financial reports to ownership. Coordinate with auditors, consultants, and government authorities. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management / Hospitality / Business Administration (MBA preferred). Minimum 8–15 years of hotel operations experience, with 3–5 years as GM or Unit Head. Strong knowledge of hotel operations, revenue management, and finance. Experience with PMS, POS, and hotel accounting systems.
