Job Title: Hitachi Storage Resident Engineer (L2/L3) Location: Mumbai & Delhi Job Type: Full-Time Experience: 5+ Years Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Hitachi Storage SME to manage, design, support, and optimize enterprise storage environments & migration projects leveraging Hitachi storage technologies. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP), Hitachi Ops Center Suite, replication technologies, and storage performance tuning. Key Responsibilities: Storage Infrastructure Design & Architecture: Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of enterprise storage environments, including SAN, storage solutions. Architect and implement large-scale storage solutions that meet the organization’s data management, performance, and business continuity needs. Plan and implement storage upgrades, migrations, and new system deployments. Advanced Troubleshooting & Incident Management: Act as the final escalation point for complex storage issues, performing deep-dive troubleshooting and issue resolution. Work with vendors and cross-functional teams to resolve critical storage-related incidents, including those impacting data availability, performance, and security. Ensure that root cause analysis (RCA) is conducted for major incidents, and take corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Capacity & Performance Optimization: Analyze storage performance metrics and apply optimization techniques to ensure optimal system performance and capacity planning. Forecast future storage needs and recommend proactive measures for scaling storage solutions based on trends and business requirements. Ensure storage environments meet SLAs (Service Level Agreements) for availability, performance, and recovery. Data Protection & Disaster Recovery: Design and implement enterprise-level disaster recovery strategies, ensuring systems can be restored quickly and efficiently in case of failure. Oversee data replication, backup, and restore operations across complex storage environments. Regularly test recovery procedures to ensure that RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective) requirements are met. Security & Compliance: Ensure that storage systems adhere to security policies, including data encryption, access controls, and other security measures. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal security policies, performing audits and vulnerability assessments where necessary. Vendor Management & Relationship: Liaise with storage hardware and software vendors to resolve complex issues, ensure timely patching, and optimize vendor-supported systems. Evaluate and recommend new storage technologies, products, and tools to enhance the overall infrastructure. Documentation & Knowledge Management: Maintain detailed documentation of storage system architectures, configurations, performance metrics, and troubleshooting steps. Share knowledge with junior team members and provide training on best practices for storage administration. Collaboration & Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams on major storage-related projects, such as migrations, capacity planning, or system upgrades. Work closely with network, server, and cloud teams to ensure seamless integration between storage and other infrastructure components. Provide mentorship to L2 administrators, ensuring their professional growth and knowledge. Required Skills & Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in enterprise storage administration with at least 3+ years in Hitachi VSP storage systems. Strong hands-on expertise with Hitachi Ops Center Suite, Hitachi Device Manager, and replication solutions (TrueCopy, ShadowImage, etc.). Experience with SAN fabric management (Brocade preferred), multipathing, and host connectivity. Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Python, or shell scripting) for automation of storage tasks. Solid understanding of storage performance tuning and troubleshooting techniques. Experience with integration into VMware, Windows, UNIX/Linux platforms. ITIL foundation or experience working in ITIL-aligned environments preferred. Hitachi Certified Professional or equivalent certifications are a plus.
