Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Head to join our growing team at The Indus Valley. The HR Head will play a pivotal role in shaping people strategy, driving culture, and enabling organizational growth. This leader will own the end-to-end HR charter, ensuring that our values are deeply embedded across the company.

Key Responsibilities

1. Talent Acquisition

  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies aligned with business needs.
  • Drive manpower planning, budgeting, and utilization across functions.
  • Manage recruitment for leadership and niche roles, ensuring strong candidate pipelines.
  • Monitor recruitment metrics (time to hire, funnel efficiency, yield ratios, offer acceptance rates).

2. Learning & Development (L&D)

  • Build a structured L&D framework linked to business priorities and career paths.
  • Design capability-building programs across functions: leadership, technical, and behavioral skills.
  • Institutionalize learning through workshops, certifications, mentoring, and cross-functional projects.
  • Track learning outcomes and continuously evolve training effectiveness.

3. Performance Management

  • Align organizational objectives with individual goals using OKRs.
  • Manage fair and transparent appraisals, Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), and salary revisions.
  • Strengthen a feedback-driven culture by training managers in effective performance conversations.

4. Retention & Engagement

  • Develop retention strategies by understanding motivators, career aspirations, and market benchmarks.
  • Conduct regular engagement surveys and implement action plans for improvement.
  • Enhance recognition and R&R programs to celebrate performance, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Partner with managers to proactively identify and address attrition risks.

5. Culture & Organization Development

  • Champion The Indus Valley culture (“One Team – One Goal”), embedding values into all HR processes.
  • Design structures and processes that encourage agility, collaboration, and ownership.
  • Define career paths, role clarity, and promotion criteria for all levels.
  • Conduct regular benchmarking of HR practices to keep the organization future-ready.

6. Compliance & Policy Development

  • Collaborate with compliance vendors to manage compliance requirements for HQ and warehouses.
  • Draft, communicate, and update HR policies in line with Indian labor laws and business needs.
  • Build HR SOPs to ensure operational efficiency and compliance discipline.

7. Compensation & Benefits

  • Structure competitive C&B frameworks aligned with industry standards and internal equity.
  • Oversee payroll processing with accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Regularly review employee benefits to improve satisfaction and wellness.

8. Team Management & Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the HR & Admin team.
  • Build succession pipelines and strengthen functional capabilities.
  • Conduct daily/weekly check-ins with the team to monitor priorities and provide guidance.

9. Retail & Warehouse HR Operations

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance, and engagement of retail and warehouse staff (including contract workforce).
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, vendor agreements, and workplace policies across warehouse and retail operations.
  • Mediate disputes, manage grievances, and implement mechanisms for timely resolution.
  • Train managers and supervisors in handling conflicts and workforce issues professionally and respectfully.
  • Standardize HR practices across warehouses and retail outlets to ensure fairness, consistency, and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR / related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of building HR functions in high-growth/startup environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws, HR compliance, and best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and culture-driven organization.
