The Generator Sales Executive is responsible for driving revenue through the sale of power generation solutions such as diesel gensets and portable generators. This role blends technical expertise with business development skills to deliver reliable energy solutions to residential, commercial, and industrial clients.
1. Lead Generation & Business Development
Identify and qualify new sales opportunities through cold calling, networking, field visits, referrals, and online research.Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline to consistently achieve assigned targets.
2. Technical Consultation & Solution Design
Conduct detailed client requirement assessments, including power load calculations and site evaluations.
Recommend appropriate generator models, capacities, and configurations based on application needs.
3. Sales Presentations & Demonstrations
Deliver compelling product presentations and demonstrations highlighting technical features, reliability, cost efficiency, and ROI. Promote value-added solutions such as ATS, switchgear, and AMC/maintenance contracts.
4. Client Relationship Management
Develop and maintain long-term relationships with facility managers, consultants, electrical contractors, and procurement teams. Act as the primary point of contact throughout the entire sales cycle.
5. Negotiation & Deal Closure
Prepare and present commercial proposals, negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contractual agreements.
Close high-value deals while consistently meeting monthly and annual sales targets.
6. Post-Sales Coordination & Support
Coordinate with engineering, logistics, and service teams to ensure smooth delivery, installation, and commissioning.
Follow up on invoicing, collections, and customer satisfaction.
7. Market Intelligence & Competitor Analysis
Monitor competitor offerings, pricing strategies, and market trends.
Share market insights with management to support strategic decision-making.
8. Reporting & CRM Management
Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, and closures in the CRM system.
Submit daily activity reports, sales forecasts, and pipeline updates.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of proven experience in sales of diesel generators (DG sets) or power generation solutions is mandatory. Prior experience handling residential, commercial, or industrial generator sales will be a strong advantage.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Engineering.
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background preferred.
Strong knowledge of diesel generator systems, ATS, electrical switchgear, and power load calculations.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications is an added advantage.
Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Customer-centric mindset with the ability to build trust-based, long-term client relationships.
Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, Zoho CRM) for lead and pipeline management.
Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Willingness to travel frequently for site visits, client meetings, and industry or networking events.
Revenue Target Achievement:
Consistent achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales revenue targets.
Lead-to-Conversion Ratio:
Percentage of qualified leads successfully converted into confirmed sales orders.
New Customer Acquisition:
Number of new customer accounts onboarded within the defined period.
Customer Retention & Repeat Business:
Growth in repeat orders, AMC sign-ups, and long-term service contracts.
