We are looking for a meticulous Design Engineer – Electrical to spearhead the electrical design and engineering aspects of our innovative solar PV projects at Solon India Private Limited. As a pivotal member of our engineering team, you will be instrumental in designing cost-effective and high-quality solar energy solutions. Your responsibilities will span from initial design and technical documentation to ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including civil engineers, project managers, and procurement specialists, to ensure seamless project execution from conceptualization to commissioning. Your expertise in energy yield modeling, equipment layout optimization, and electrical power systems analysis will be vital in maximizing project efficiency and cost-effectiveness. By applying your deep knowledge of IEEE, IEC, IS and NEC standards, you will contribute significantly to our mission of delivering sustainable and reliable solar energy solutions. Job Details: Industry: Solar Energy Department: Engineering Role: Design Engineer – Electrical Location: Hyderabad Compensation: 10 LPA Experience: 6-8 years Employment Type: Full-time Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Responsibilities: Electrical Design and Engineering: Lead the design and development of electrical systems for solar PV projects, ensuring adherence to project specifications and industry best practices. Create detailed electrical design documents, including single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, and grounding systems. Perform cable sizing calculations and select appropriate electrical components, such as inverters, transformers, and circuit breakers, optimizing for cost and performance. Conduct thorough electrical power systems analysis to ensure system stability, reliability, and safety. Develop technical specifications for electrical equipment and materials, ensuring compliance with relevant standards IEEE, IEC, IS and NEC standards, Provide technical support and guidance to construction teams during the installation and commissioning phases. Energy Yield Assessment and Optimization: Conduct energy yield modeling using software tools such as PVsyst and Helioscope to optimize system performance and maximize energy production. Analyze site-specific data, including weather patterns and shading conditions, to accurately predict energy generation. Identify opportunities for improving system efficiency and reducing energy losses through innovative design solutions. Prepare comprehensive energy yield assessment reports for project stakeholders, including detailed performance forecasts. Collaborate with the engineering team to incorporate energy yield optimization strategies into the overall project design. Evaluate the impact of different design parameters on energy yield and recommend adjustments to maximize project profitability. Project Lifecycle Management: Manage the electrical design aspects of solar PV projects throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptualization to commissioning. Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of design deliverables and adherence to project timelines. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, civil engineers, and procurement specialists, to ensure seamless project execution. Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or issues, implementing corrective actions as needed. Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards, including safety and environmental requirements. Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and test reports. Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure that all electrical designs comply with relevant industry standards (IEEE, IEC, NEC) and local regulations. Conduct thorough quality control checks of design documents and drawings to identify and correct errors or omissions. Develop and implement quality assurance procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of electrical systems. Perform site surveys and inspections to verify compliance with design specifications and identify potential issues. Prepare and submit required documentation to regulatory agencies and obtain necessary approvals. Participate in project audits and reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with civil engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical designs with site layouts and structural components. Communicate effectively with project managers, procurement specialists, and construction teams to ensure clear understanding of design requirements. Participate in project meetings and provide technical updates to stakeholders. Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to communicate design concepts and project progress. Provide training and mentoring to junior engineers and technical staff. Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality electrical equipment and materials. General Expectations and Past Experiences: Possess 6-8 years of experience in electrical design engineering, specifically within the solar PV industry. Demonstrated proficiency in Solar PV System Design, PVsyst, Helioscope, and AutoCAD Electrical for detailed design and simulation. SketchUp is also useful. Deep understanding of IEEE, IEC, IS and NEC standards, ensuring designs meet all regulatory and safety requirements. Proven ability to optimize site layouts and design single-line diagrams for efficient and cost-effective solar energy production. Experience in Site Surveying, Electrical Testing, and Quality Control to ensure project success from inception to commissioning. Strong skills in Value Engineering and BOM (Bill of Materials) Preparation to manage project costs effectively. Expertise in Project Lifecycle Management, including constructability reviews and commissioning support. Ability to defend prepared designs during external design reviews – useful skill to have.
