Job Description

The Director of Finance is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance. They lead the finance team, develop financial strategies, and provide insights to guide executive decision-making. The role ensures financial health, risk management, and alignment with the company’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Strategy & Planning

· Develop and implement long-term financial strategies aligned with company goals.

· Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes across departments.

· Advise executive leadership on financial implications of business decisions.

2. Financial Reporting & Analysis

· Oversee timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reports, and dashboards.

· Analyse financial performance, variances, and trends; provide actionable insights.

· Present financial reports to executive management, board of directors, and stakeholders.

3. Accounting Oversight

· Ensure accurate accounting in compliance with applicable standards (GAAP/IFRS).

· Supervise general ledger, fixed assets, and month-end/year-end closings.

· Work with auditors to complete annual audits and implement recommendations.

4. Risk Management & Compliance

· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.

· Oversee tax planning and filing in coordination with external advisors.

· Identify and manage financial risks; implement internal controls.

5. Team Leadership

· Lead, mentor, and develop finance and accounting staff.

· Foster a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

· Collaborate with department heads to optimize financial operations.

6. Stakeholder Engagement

· Act as the financial liaison for banks, investors, and external partners.

· Support funding, investment, and capital planning initiatives.

Key Skills & Competencies

· Strategic financial planning and budgeting

· Deep understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS)

· Financial modelling and analysis

· Regulatory compliance and tax planning

· ERP and accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle, Tally)

· Leadership, communication, and team management

· Attention to detail and problem-solving mindset

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics (Mandatory)

· MBA or Professional Certification (CA, CPA, CMA, or CFA) is preferred

· 12–15+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5–8 years in a senior leadership role

· Experience in Education Academy, Vocational Trainings Institutes, etc. is a plus

Work Environment

· Office-based with occasional travel

· Fast-paced and collaborative

· Interdepartmental coordination required
