Database Administrator - L2 (Indore, India)
Job Purpose
The Database Administrator (L2) supports day-to-day operations and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server environments across hybrid infrastructures. This role involves performing health checks, managing backups and restores, optimizing performance, applying patches, and coordinating with internal teams. It contributes to database stability, compliance, and effective service delivery under senior guidance.
Qualification
Engineering Degree (Computers / Electronics)
Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent
- ITIL Foundation
- CompTIA Server+
- AI-related training or certification will be considered an added advantage
Experience
Minimum 5-8 years of hands-on experience in database administration roles

Key Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDES ALL TASKS):
Database Maintenance & Support
- Perform routine health checks on SQL Server instances
- Monitor database performance and optimize queries/indexes
- Manage backup and restore operations using native tools or third-party solutions
- Apply patches and service packs as per schedule
- Assist in incident resolution and escalate complex issues to L3
- Maintain database documentation and change logs
Virtualization & Cloud Assistance
- Operate under guidance in hybrid environments (on-prem & Azure SQL)
- Support migration activities from on-prem to cloud databases
- Monitor resource utilization and storage thresholds
Security & Compliance
- Enforce database security policies and access controls
- Assist with vulnerability scan follow-ups and patch compliance
- Contribute to ISO/SOC audit preparations by maintaining DB records
Asset & Documentation Management
- Update CMDB entries for database assets
- Maintain SOPs, runbooks, and checklists
- Coordinate with procurement teams for licensing and lifecycle status
Tools & Automation
- Good understanding of monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Manage Engine (DB modules)
- Utilize basic automation scripts (PowerShell, T-SQL) for repetitive tasks
- Support development of performance and compliance reports
Collaboration & Escalation
- Work alongside L1 engineers and escalate unresolved DB issues to L3 or vendor support
- Coordinate with application, infra, and network teams on scheduled tasks
- Contribute to onboarding processes and database readiness checklists
- Understanding and experience in managing disaster recovery operations and procedures
