Job Title: Assistant Purchase Manager
Location: Sector-37D, Gurgaon

Job Summary:

We are looking for a seasoned Assistant Purchase Manager with in-depth knowledge of electrical components and proven experience in procurement for electrical panel manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end sourcing, vendor development, negotiations, and inventory planning for all technical and project-related materials including switchgear, cables, enclosures, drives, PLCs, relays, wiring accessories, and fabricated parts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage strategic and operational procurement of all electrical components and raw materials used in panel manufacturing (PCC, MCC, VFD, APFC, Control Panels).
  • Source and evaluate suppliers/vendors for quality, price competitiveness, and reliability.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and delivery schedules to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement.
  • Analyze technical specifications (SLD, BOM, GA drawings) in coordination with the design team to ensure correct material procurement.
  • Maintain and update a preferred vendor database and develop alternate sourcing strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Track and manage inventory levels, optimize stock based on project schedules, and coordinate with stores for stock audits.
  • Monitor price trends and ensure cost control while maintaining component quality.
  • Collaborate closely with design, production, QA/QC, and accounts teams for seamless workflow.
  • Handle procurement planning based on project pipeline and ensure material availability as per production timelines.
  • Evaluate supplier performance regularly on key KPIs – quality, cost, delivery, and service.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, and industry standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical procurement for electrical panel manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical components (A/B/C class items), including switchgear (Schneider, Siemens, ABB, L&T, etc.), drives, PLCs, wiring accessories, and control gear.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting SLD, BOMs, technical datasheets, and panel drawings.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, MS Excel, and data analysis.
  • Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of commercial terms, taxation, logistics, and import regulations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to strategic sourcing, vendor audits, and global procurement.
  • Familiarity with quality standards like ISO 9001 and relevant electrical standards (IEC/IS).
  • Experience handling project-based procurement in both private and government sectors.
