Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Software Development to lead and scale our engineering organization across multiple product modules.This role will oversee the Delivery Head, guide technical managers, and play a key role in shaping the technology roadmap, team structure, and execution strategy.The Director will be responsible for engineering leadership, budgeting, hiring, and cross-functional alignment to ensure high-quality, timely delivery of internal products.The role demands a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the success of engineering initiatives and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership across engineering teams and product modules
- Oversee and mentor the Delivery Head and Technical Managers to ensure successful execution and delivery
- Define and drive the technology roadmap in alignment with business goals
- Own budgeting, resource planning, and capacity management for the engineering department
- Lead hiring efforts, including workforce planning, interviewing, and onboarding
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines
- Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless product delivery
- Monitor and report on engineering KPIs, delivery timelines, and quality metrics
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Evaluate and implement tools, platforms, and processes to improve team productivity and system scalability
- Drive innovation by identifying opportunities to leverage automation, AI, and emerging technologies to enhance development efficiency and product capabilities
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data security standards
- Take full ownership of engineering outcomes, including delivery quality, team performance, and strategic alignment
- Be accountable for resolving escalations, managing risks, and ensuring delivery commitments are met
Required Skills And Experience
- 12+ years of experience in software development
- Minimum 8+ years in leadership roles, including managing large, distributed engineering teams
- Proven experience overseeing multiple product lines and delivery functions
- Strong background in system architecture, cloud-native development, and enterprise software delivery
- Hands-on experience with .NET, React, and cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
- Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of engineering strategy and execution
- Experience driving innovation and productivity improvements through tools, automation, and AI
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare IT or SaaS product companies
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and healthcare workflows
- Azure or other cloud certifications
- Exposure to AI/ML, data engineering, or cybersecurity initiatives
