The Role:

The Admissions Officer processes international student applications, undertakes assessment of

qualifications and facilitates selection of students for RMIT programs. The position also undertakes

recruitment and other tasks related to admissions and ensures the application and selection processes

achieve recruitment targets and meet customer service standards.


Reporting:

Reports to: International Admissions Manager, South Asia Hub or Admissions Coordinator

Direct Reports: Nil


Key Accountabilities:

  • Process the admission of international students through efficient, timely and accurate assessment of applications including assessment against the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) framework based on set entrance criteria.
  • Prepare and analyse data for internal and external reporting and run regular reports to ensure applications are assessed within agreed timeframes.
  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of University programs including academic and English entry requirements.
  • Identify, recommend, and document qualifications for the University’s recognition and inclusion into RMIT’s pathway/articulation documents. Suggest possible improvements in admissions procedures with the overall aim of improving application turnaround time.
  • Handle inquiries, provide information, advice and referrals to other services on/off campus, in relation to program information, fee inquiries, enrolment status, student visas, Overseas Student Health Cover and scholarships.
  • Efficient, timely and accurate updating of student records in the database, scanning of documents received in hard copy, manage notifications and emails generated by the system as well as external emails and incoming phone calls.
  • Provide support to the International Admissions Manager, South Asia Hub, recruitment team and relevant stakeholders with respect to international marketing and recruitment of international students throughout India and South Asia region to RMIT University, with the aim of increasing student enrolments and meeting the recruitment target set for the region.
  • Maintain excellent collaborative working relationships with the University’s agent representative network in the Region and assist the University in monitoring compliance by its recruitment agents in the region.
  • Other activities across the Operations area as required.


Person Specifications:

  • Knowledge of the assessment of international qualifications and Genuine Temporary Entrant criteria in the tertiary education system or an area related to international students.
  • Well-developed skills in handling large amounts of detailed information and in working with complex criteria-based systems and procedures; with the ability to analyse, report and recommend.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, manage heavy workloads, maintain accuracy and meet deadlines, ability to work under pressure and be able to adapt to changing work practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an office environment and manage administrative tasks accurately, promptly and efficiently as well as understanding a variety of systems.


Qualifications

Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of qualifications and relevant work experience

  • Occasional travel within in India to participate in recruitment activities may be required.
  • Attending work events after hours, on occasion, may be required.
  • Flexibility to work after hours may be required during peak periods.
  • Knowledge and experience of Australian international higher education is desirable.
