Vice President of Engineering

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled VP Engineering to lead our engineering function, drive scalable architecture decisions, and build high-performance systems for a rapidly growing fintech ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in system design, distributed architectures, and hands-on experience with at least one backend technology—Java, Python, or Node.js.

This is a senior leadership role requiring technical depth, product thinking, people leadership, and the ability to build robust, scalable, and secure platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Technology & Architecture Leadership
• Own the end-to-end technical roadmap, architecture strategy, and system design for highly scalable and resilient platforms.
• Drive engineering best practices including microservices architecture, cloud-native development, CI/CD, observability, and automation.
• Evaluate technical feasibility for new product initiatives and ensure alignment with long-term business goals.
• Lead architecture reviews, performance tuning, security assessments, and design documentation. Engineering Leadership
• Lead, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams across backend, frontend, QA, DevOps, and data. 
• Drive an engineering culture focused on innovation, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Data, Security, and Business teams to deliver key initiatives on time.
• Standardize engineering processes, SDLC practices, and quality frameworks across teams. Execution & Delivery.
• Own delivery execution for all technology initiatives with strong attention to reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Implement best-in-class release management, testing frameworks, and automation.
• Ensure platform uptime, adherence to SLAs, and smooth rollout of new features.
• Manage cross-functional dependencies and resolve technical bottlenecks proactively.

Strategic Planning

• Contribute to technology strategy, platform modernization, digital transformation, and future-ready adoption of cloud and AI-led capabilities.
• Make build vs buy decisions with ROI-driven thinking.
• Drive cost optimization, cloud efficiency, and technical productivity improvements. 

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

• 10–20 years of engineering experience, with at least 4+ years in engineering leadership roles.
• Strong expertise in system design, distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architecture, caching, and API design.
• Hands-on working experience with at least one backend technology stack: Java / Python / Node.js
• Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Strong grounding in databases (SQL & NoSQL), messaging queues, caching layers, and high-throughput systems.

Leadership & Management

• Proven experience leading 30+ member engineering teams or multiple engineering pods.
• Ability to build, mentor, and retain strong engineering talent.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across technology and business functions.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in fintech, digital lending, credit platforms, or high-transactional consumer tech products. Exposure to analytics, data engineering, and event processing frameworks.
• Prior experience with large-scale platform revamps or architecture modernization.
