About The Role
We're seeking a Supply Chain Manager (0-3 years' experience) to join our high-impact operations team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional from a premium institute who's eager to build expertise in supply chain management, vendor partnerships, and demand planning. You'll play a key role in ensuring our pet food and medicine categories are always available - efficiently, profitably, and sustainably.
Detailed Roles & Responsibilities
Supply Planning & Demand Forecasting:
- Develop accurate demand forecasts for pet food and medicine categories based on historical sales data, market trends, seasonality, and promotional activities.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and finance teams to align supply plans with business objectives and market demand.
- Maintain the right balance between demand fulfillment and inventory efficiency.
Inventory Planning & Optimization
- Plan and manage inventory levels to ensure product availability while minimizing excess stock and obsolescence.
- Use inventory management tools and KPIs (e.g., stock turnover rate, days of inventory) to optimize stock across warehouses and retail locations.
- Implement effective practices for managing perishable and regulated products like pet medicines.
Vendor Management & Procurement Coordination
- Identify, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery, cost efficiency, and quality compliance.
- Negotiate terms and contracts to support gross margin goals.
- Partner with procurement to streamline sourcing and strengthen supplier performance.
Gross Margin Optimization
- Analyze the profitability of pet food and medicine categories by reviewing cost structures, pricing, and supply chain expenses.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives, supplier negotiations, and process improvements to boost margins.
- Reduce wastage, markdowns, and inefficiencies through data-driven decision-making.
P&L; Accountability:
- Collaborate with finance to monitor category-wise P&L; and profitability targets.
- Analyze variances between planned and actual performance and recommend corrective actions.
- Align supply chain decisions with overall business and financial goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with procurement, sales, marketing, and finance teams to ensure operational alignment.
- Support marketing campaigns by ensuring timely product availability for promotions.
- Manage supply risks during demand spikes or disruptions.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for the storage, handling, and transportation of pet medicines and food products.
- Monitor vendor certifications and audit quality standards to guarantee compliance and safety.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement across the supply chain.
- Prepare and present performance reports on key metrics like inventory turnover, service levels, and vendor scorecards.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks including supplier delays, inventory shortages, or quality issues.
- Develop contingency plans to ensure continuity of supply, especially for critical pet medicines.
Who You Are
- Graduate from a premium institute (IIT, IIM, NIT, SRCC, DU, BITS, etc.).
- 1-4 years of experience in supply chain, operations, consulting, or analytics.
- Strong analytical and Excel/Google Sheets skills (SQL or ERP knowledge a plus).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Passionate about building systems, solving problems, and making an impact.
- A love for pets is a plus -
