Job Description

Position Summary

The Accountant is responsible for performing key accounting activities including financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, compliance, and month-end close processes. This role ensures accuracy and integrity of financial data in accordance with U.S. GAAP, supports audits, and contributes to efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

  • Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.

Financial Reporting

  • Assist with preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
  • Prepare supporting documentation and schedules to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by providing requested documents and explanations.

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

  • Process vendor invoices, expense reports, and payments; review for accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, apply payments, and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Maintain vendor and customer records.

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
  • Support payroll processing and related tax filings, when applicable.
  • Maintain proper internal controls and documentation for audits and SOX compliance (if applicable).

Financial Analysis

  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Analyze variances and provide explanations to management.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience (or entry-level with internship experience for junior roles).
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, PivotTables, data analysis).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • CPA or working toward CPA certification.
  • Experience in corporate, public, or industry-specific accounting.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations, payroll processes, and audit support.
