The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented Java designer (with management activities) who is passionate about building scalable, user-friendly applications. He/She should have deep microservices expertise and hands-on design experience. This role combines technical leadership with people management, guiding multiple delivery teams to build robust, scalable systems for distributed transactions. Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the technical vision for modern architecture, ensuring scalability, resilience, and alignment with business goals.
- Design, review, and approve high-level and detailed architectural artifacts (patterns, data models, service boundaries, API contracts, integration points).
- Lead the design and implementation of distributed transactions using Saga patterns (orchestrated and/or choreographed approaches) across multiple services.
- Drive best practices for microservices, including domain-driven design (DDD), event-driven architectures, messaging, idempotency, eventual consistency, and fault tolerance.
- Guide API design, service decomposition, data ownership, service contracts, and data consistency strategies across boundaries.
- Ensure quality and performance through design reviews, code reviews, and advocating testability, observability, and security in all services.
- Build and lead multiple cross-functional development teams; mentor engineers, conduct performance reviews, and support career development.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and continued development of team members; manage staffing plans and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with European manager to understand the roadmap and discuss on opportunities.
- Manage risk, identify technical debt, and implement remediation plans; communicate status and trade-offs to stakeholders.
Requirements
- 12-15 years of professional software development experience, with a strong track record in Java/JVM ecosystems.
- Experience in people management or team leadership experience (coaching, performance reviews, hiring, and career development).
- Deep hands-on experience designing applications in Payments domain.
- Background in Continuous Development and its CI/CD practices
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of Agile methodology and Jira or similar tools
- Experience on mentoring junior developers
- T-shaped mindset with deep expertise in development and broad knowledge in related domains
- Strong curious, proactive, analytical, detail-oriented and problem-solving attitude
- Familiarity with Payments Processing is welcomed
- Familiarity with DevOps practices is welcomed
- Familiarity with Cloud solutions is welcomed
