Job Purpose:

Head of Section - Safety (HOS) is responsible for leading health and safety initiatives across the business unit, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and fostering a proactive safety culture. The role focuses on developing safety strategies, reducing incident severity, promoting safety awareness, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance through collaboration with corporate, local leaders, and employees.

Responsibilities

Safety Program Implementation:

Implement a safety-oriented strategy across the business unit, coordinating with functional heads to ensure alignment with group directives and promote a positive safety culture. Measure, report, and achieve key safety metric goals.

Safety Objectives & Action Plans

Assist in developing specific health and safety objectives, create action plans to meet these goals, and monitor the strategic safety performance of the site.

Incident Investigation & Corrective Action

Reduce incident severity by partnering with business leaders to promote incident prevention and regulatory compliance. Drive the Safety Risk Field Audit (SRFA) process and ensure Vulnerability Safety Risks (VSR) compliance at all sites.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure all employees, contractors, and visitors comply with safety rules and regulations. Drive senior leadership commitment through Safety Interactions (SI/SS) and promote safety engagements under the #SafetyCulture initiative, including community safety programs.

Training & Safety Awareness

Keep employees informed and trained on health and safety standards, and ensure continuous learning through regular safety training and retraining.

Emergency Response Preparedness

Evaluate personnel awareness of emergency procedures, observe mock drills to assess the effectiveness of emergency response plans, and identify areas for improvement.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

Monitor, review, and report health and safety performance, incidents, and opportunities for improvement. Implement preventive and corrective actions as necessary.

Safety Engagement & Community Initiatives

Plan and drive safety awareness programs, promote community safety, and enhance the visibility of ADANI's safety professionals and brand through public engagements.

IMS & Mock Drills

Plan, conduct, and document mock drills while maintaining compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements as per organizational standards.

Digital Mindset

Keep up with digital and AI advancements to enhance business and maintain competitiveness.

Team Development

Promote a respectful and safe workplace, lead collaborative and productive teams, and mentor for growth and success.

Key Stakeholders - Internal

Safety Officers and Teams, Cross-functional Teams (Operations, Engineering), EHS Department

Key Stakeholders - External

Regulatory Bodies (Local Safety Commissions), Consultants, Contractors, PPE and Safety Equipment Vendors

Qualifications

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s Degree is preferred.

Work Experience

Minimum 10 - 15 years of experience in safety management within industrial environments (ports, oil & gas, manufacturing, etc.).Proven experience in developing and implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and managing safety teams.
