Responsibilities
As a Structural Engineer
at SSOE’s India office, you will engage directly with multidisciplinary project teams delivering complex industrial and high-technology facility designs. Your core responsibility will be the structural analysis, design, and documentation of steel frameworks, reinforced concrete foundations, struts, platforms, and related load-bearing systems employing industry-leading software including Revit, and Risa Structural analysis. You will interpret architectural and process requirements to develop structurally sound, cost-effective solutions that comply with company and client standards and international codes where applicable. Your work will span conceptual design through construction administration (CA), coordinating closely with engineering discipline leads, project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure structural deliverables integrate seamlessly within the overall project scope and schedule.
The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.
- Develop and review detailed structural calculation reports, load diagrams, and finite element models in Risa and Revit Structure to verify load paths, member sizing, and deflections within code limits.
- Create, update, and maintain coordinated 3D BIM models in Revit incorporating structural, architectural, and MEP inputs to facilitate clash detection and seamless interdisciplinary integration.
- Produce construction drawings, specifications, and design criteria packages in Revit aligned with scope, client standards, and regulatory requirements for submission and approval.
- Contribute to quality assurance and control processes, including peer reviews, design checklists, and formal change management to uphold design reliability and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in knowledge sharing sessions and technical training within the structural team and broader project teams to promote continuous learning and process improvements.
- Structural design and analysis for industrial and high-tech projects, encompassing systems such as steel frames, reinforced concrete structures, foundations, and support systems.
Qualifications
What will you bring?
- BE / B.tech degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.
- 7 to 10 years of progressive structural engineering experience (preference on industrial and high-tech facility projects).
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software: AutoCAD, Revit Structure, Risa, including modeling, load application, and result interpretation.
- Strong technical writing skills for preparation of design calculations, specifications, client submittals, and documentation.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, clients, and contractors to deliver coordinated, constructible designs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, adaptable to diverse stakeholder groups.
- Must be adaptable to work during evening hours to ensure communication with stakeholders in the USA.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing structures for manufacturing, chemical processing, pharmaceutical, or semiconductor facilities, including platforms, pipe racks, heavy-duty foundations, and containment structures.
- Advanced skills in BIM modeling integration and clash detection in Revit combined with parametric design workflows.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities including mentoring junior engineers, leading design review sessions, and coordinating across disciplines under project execution pressures.
- Familiarity with constructability reviews, cost estimating considerations, and schedule impact analyses to optimize project delivery.
