Job Title: Sr. Technical Safety Engineer Department: Process Safety Position: Reports To: Process Safety Lead Job Summary: Experienced Loss Prevention Engineer with 10 years+ of expertise in Loss Prevention Engineering (LPE) within the Oil & Gas industry, particularly with an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) or Vendor background. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that safety and loss prevention measures are effectively integrated into the project lifecycle, from design to implementation and operation, to minimize risks to personnel, assets, and the environment. Key Responsibilities: 1. Loss Prevention Design and Strategy: Develop and implement loss prevention strategies and systems in alignment with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Perform risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential hazards and areas of concern within Oil & Gas projects. Participate in HAZID (Hazard Identification), HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Studies), and other risk assessments to determine risk levels and mitigation strategies. Prepare and review loss prevention engineering deliverables: Development of Philosophies Preparation of Data Sheets Preparation of Specifications FW Demand Calculation Developing FW/Spray P&IDs Pipenet Hydraulics FW Line list F&G C&E Schedules (Area Classification/Fireproofing) Safety Layouts (HAC/PFP/Fire & Safety Equipment/F&G/ Fire, Toxic Zone/Escape Route Safety workshop, Safety Study Close-out Reports MRs Vendor offer Review/ TBE Safety and Risk Assessment: Conduct quantitative and qualitative risk assessments (QRA, F-N Curve analysis, etc.) to identify and mitigate potential risks to personnel, facilities, and the environment. Analyze the potential impact of loss scenarios such as fire, explosion, toxic releases, and other emergency situations. Ensure compliance with international safety standards (e.g., NFPA, ISO, API) and local regulations, ensuring that all preventive and protective measures are appropriately implemented. Engineering Support and Consultation Provide engineering expertise and technical advice to project teams, EPC contractors, and vendors regarding loss prevention and safety measures. Review and approve designs, drawings, and specifications related to loss prevention systems such as fire suppression, emergency shutdown systems, and hazard detection systems. Ensure technical specifications, performance standards, and safety systems meet project and client requirements. 1. Vendor and Contractor Coordination : Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure that loss prevention systems and equipment are correctly specified, delivered, and installed according to the project requirements. Oversee commissioning and testing of loss prevention systems to ensure their functionality and compliance with safety standards. 2. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure that the loss prevention systems comply with national and international standards, codes, and regulations. Generate and submit detailed reports on risk assessments (Like QRA, FERA, EERA, BRA, F&G Mapping Study and Vent Dispersion Analysis etc.) Support audits and inspections to ensure that safety systems are functional and compliant with regulatory requirements. 3. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of loss prevention systems, risk management processes, and overall safety culture within the organization.
