Job Description

Purpose:

The Planning Engineer is responsible for Scheduling, developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules to ensure timely execution of refinery-related Projects, Shutdown & Turnaround. This role ensures integration of planning activities across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning, while supporting compliance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop, monitor, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera or MS Project in line with refinery project timelines.

· Prepare and manage project baselines for EPC, shutdowns, turnarounds and brownfield/greenfield refinery projects.

· Conduct regular critical path analysis and identify schedule risks and mitigation plans.

· Coordinate with teams to discuss daily planning and productivity and to gather input and ensure accurate schedule development.

· Coordinate with clients for daily planning activities and constraint discussion to resolve and future job planning with P&M & other necessary availabilities accordingly.

· Track project progress through physical progress measurement, and share the DPR to client and internal management with the detailing of planned vs actual status with constraints.

· Ensure job progress as per the schedule and raise concern to related department to get it resolve as soon as possible and maintain productivity as planned.

· Support risk management through schedule impact assessments of potential project delays.

· Generate weekly/monthly progress reports, dashboards, look-ahead schedules, and forecast updates for internal and client review.

· Assist in developing manpower histograms and resource-loaded schedules.

· Participate in client reviews, internal audits, and management meetings.

· Ensure compliance with company planning standards, policies and procedures.

· Mentor and support to QC and billing department for monthly billing according to the work done record and reports.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).

· Minimum 8–12 years of experience in project planning/scheduling, preferably in refinery or petrochemical industries.

· Hands-on experience with Primavera P6 and MS Project.

· Familiarity with RIL, Nayara Energy, HMEL or other major refinery projects is preferred.

· Understanding of EPCM project lifecycles, shutdowns, and turnaround management.

· Strong knowledge of planning and control methodologies and schedule integration.

· Strong communication and coordination skills.

· Analytical mindset with the ability to manage risks and forecasting.

· Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent for reporting.

· Familiarity with SAP or other ERP/project management systems is a plus.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
