MISSION
The IT Engineer Japan is responsible for providing day to day operational IS&S support to Tokyo office and Kitakyushu plant for both the business and End Users.
Key Responsibility Areas Are As Follows
- Coordinate and process all local business and operating issues relating to local site IS&S
- Serve as the main point of contact between IS&S and other local departments
- Act as the primary local liaison with IS&S with corporate, regional and sister plants
- Work with plant teams to provide necessary support for Manufacturing Systems
- Work with regional team to provide necessary support for other system if needed
The IT Engineer must adhere to corporate IS&S standards while planning, organizing and coordinating the information systems of the facility to ensure standardization throughout the organization. Work is performed in a fast paced environment within tight time constraints. Unusual hours may be required on an occasional basis. This is a salaried, exempt position.
Tasks & Responsabilities
- Support/maintain all office/plant computers and communications hardware to ensure maximum reliability of company information systems.
- Operate on a daily basis all IT related maintenance operations such as backups, inventory, installation of new equipment, new applications, etc.
- Deliver support of IS&S solutions for business problems related to Finance, Inventory, Sales, Human Resources or Manufacturing applications in order to support the changing business needs of the plant manufacturing facility.
- Support IS&S solutions for business problems related to Process/Production Manufacturing applications in order to increase the production efficiencies of our facility where he is residing.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of all necessary business/system operating procedures as they apply to the plant in order to support the plant’s continuous operation.
- Develop, coordinate and implement program support and documentation.
- Participate in management meetings to understand the business evolution and its impact on information technology infrastructure and support requirements.
- Monitor and track the IT budget and spending and propose the cost saving plan when necessary
- Manage IT local vendor to delivery qualified work according to cost, project plan, standard and corporate requirements.
- Assist in training facility personnel as needed.
- Must successfully complete all Plastic Omnium required training.
- Must comply with all work rules, policies and procedures.
- Must comply with all safety rules and regulations.
- Provide support to other positions as needed and complete other duties as assigned.

Profile Required
Personal Background
- B.S. in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
- Significant exposure to computer applications development and/or networking technology in a manufacturing environment
- At least 2 years overall work experience in Manufacturing//Information Technology
- At least 2-3 years Microsoft Windows 7/Windows 2008/Active Directory/Networking experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Systems Server hardware general knowledge based (on HP server family is a plus)
- Microsoft Windows XP/7/8
- Microsoft Windows 2003/2008/2012 Server
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- MS SQL Server
- Backup Systems (e.g. HP, Veritas)
- Networking Essentials including troubleshooting and protocols (WAN/LAN, TCP/IP, HUBs switches, Cisco related equipment)
- Experience on project management.
- Basic ERP knowledge preferred.
- Exposure to client server and web technologies a definite asset
- Knowledge of data acquisition systems, process control, communication hardware and bar code technology preferred
- Knowledge of inventory control, production posting and plant business processes desirable
