Technical Writer – Product Documentation & Technical Communication Lead (m/f/d)

This is a lead-level role

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Documentation Ownership

1. Own the end-to-end technical documentation lifecycle for HEI’s product portfolio, including:

• Product datasheets
• Installation & O&M manuals
• Functional descriptions
• System architecture and test documentation

1. Assess existing documentation critically and propose improvements, templates, and standards to elevate overall quality and consistency.
2. Translate complex multidisciplinary engineering inputs (mechanical, electrical, electronics, firmware, IoT) into clear, accurate, and user-oriented documentation.
3. Ensure disciplined version control, revisions, and release readiness of all technical documents.

Cross-Functional & International Collaboration

• Work closely with R&D, engineering, industrial design, product management, and sales teams in India and Austria.
• Drive documentation reviews, incorporate structured feedback, and align outputs with HEI’s global quality expectations.
• Act as a single point of accountability for documentation clarity, accuracy, and professionalism.

Visual & Design-Oriented Technical Communication

• Create and manage diagrams, illustrations, exploded views, and layout-driven documentation in coordination with engineers and designers.
• Ensure technical documents meet industrial-design-grade visual and brand standards, not just textual correctness.

Marketing & External Communication Support (When Required)

• Support technically accurate content for brochures, catalogues, application notes, and whitepapers, ensuring alignment with real product capabilities.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Degree in

  Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics)

  ,

  Industrial Design

  ,

  Technical Communication

  , or a related field.

• 5+ years of professional experience

  in technical writing for engineered products (lighting, outdoor products, electronics, industrial or IoT systems preferred).
• Proven ability to

  work independently, take ownership, and drive outcomes

  without constant supervision.
• Demonstrated experience in

  structuring or revamping documentation systems

  , not just producing individual documents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in

  English

SOFTWARE & TOOLS (EXPECTED LEVEL)

• Documentation:

  MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel; Adobe InDesign (Mandatory); Illustrator; Photoshop

• CAD & Visual Understanding:

  SolidWorks (for assemblies, exploded views, technical references)

• Documentation Platforms:

  Confluence, FrameMaker, or similar CMS tools

• Rendering Tools (Plus):

  KeyShot, SolidWorks Visualize, or equivalent
• Familiarity with structured repositories, approval workflows, and ERP/PLM environments is an advantage
