Senior Manager - Fixed Assets

Position Summary

The Senior Manager – Fixed Assets & IDSW Accounting will own the end-to-end governance, quality, and transformation of Fixed Assets and Internally Developed Software (IDSW) accounting across NIQ’s Global Finance Operations.

While lease accounting is not part of the direct remit, the role requires strong technical knowledge and hands-on systems understanding of lease accounting to enable effective partnership, review, and cross-tower alignment.

This role requires a leader who is deeply technical, operationally hands-on, systems-savvy, and capable of driving process standardisation, balance sheet integrity, and transformation at scale across a global environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Global Ownership – Fixed Assets & IDSW

• • Own and govern end-to-end accounting for:
  • Fixed Assets: capitalisation, depreciation, impairments, disposals
  • Internally Developed Software (IDSW): capitalisation eligibility, stage-gating, amortisation
  • Ensure all FA and IDSW transactions are accurately recorded, reviewed, and approved in SAP and supporting systems
  • Review FA and IDSW balances in SAP and ensure accurate and complete feeds to the consolidation system

1. Balance Sheet Integrity & Reconciliations

• • Own monthly and quarterly reconciliations for all FA and IDSW balance sheet accounts
  • Drive resolution of out-of-balance items, aged balances, and recon breaks
  • Perform trend and movement analysis and ensure robust commentary and justification for material movements
  • Maintain strong governance over CIP ageing, IDSW capitalisation balances, and amortisation accuracy

1. IDSW & App Development Cost Governance
   • Lead governance over application development costs, including:
   • Capitalisation assessment and eligibility review
   • Intercompany development cost transfers
   • Alignment with accounting standards and internal policies
   • Partner with Technology, Product, and Business Finance teams to ensure accurate cost attribution and documentation
   • Ensure IDSW processes are fully documented, auditable, and SOP-driven

1. Lease Accounting – Technical Oversight (Non-Remit)
   • Maintain strong technical understanding of lease accounting under US GAAP and IFRS
   • Possess hands-on working knowledge of Nakisa and CoStar to support:
   • Data validation
   • System handoffs
   • Cross-tower reviews and issue resolution
   • Partner effectively with the Lease accounting team to ensure end-to-end balance sheet integrity

1. Process Standardisation & Transformation
   • Drive global standardisation of FA and IDSW processes across regions
   • Own SOP adherence (L2–L5), RACI clarity, and documentation quality
   • Identify and execute automation, simplification, and transformation initiatives to reduce manual effort, rework, and audit risk
   • Embed structured RCA and preventive controls for recurring issues

1. Controls, Compliance & Audit
   • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, SOX, and internal control requirements for FA and IDSW
   • Own control design, operating effectiveness, and evidence quality
   • Act as the primary FA/IDSW contact for internal and external audits
   • Drive timely closure of audit findings with sustainable corrective actions

1. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
   • Partner closely with Controllers, FP&A, Tax, Audit, Technology, and Business Finance
   • Act as the single accountable owner for FA and IDSW outcomes globally
   • Communicate complex accounting and system topics clearly to senior stakeholders

1. People Leadership
   • Lead, coach, and develop a 20-member FA & IDSW team
   • Set clear expectations on quality, ownership, and accountability
   • Build strong review discipline, technical depth, and succession capability
   • Foster a culture of first-time-right quality and continuous improvement

1. Project & Change Leadership
   • Lead FA and IDSW-related projects including:
   • System enhancements and migrations
   • Process redesign and standardisation
   • Integration with enterprise transformation programs • Ensure minimal disruption to financial close and reporting
     

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CA / CPA strongly preferred
• 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience
• Deep expertise in Fixed Assets and IDSW accounting
• Strong working knowledge of lease accounting (US GAAP & IFRS)
• Hands-on experience with SAP, Nakisa, CoStar, and consolidation systems
• Experience in global / multinational environments
• Proven people leadership experience (10+ team members)
