Who we are:

The mechanical team at Tejas Networks plays a vital role in defining the physical appearance and functionality of the company's products. Their responsibilities encompass a wide range of activities that ensure the mechanical aspects of the products are robust, reliable, and aligned with the overall system requirements.

What you work:

1. Mechanical Design & Development

• Design mechanically robust test jigs, fixtures, and automated test rigs for functional testing, validation and production testing.
• Develop concepts using DFMA/DFMEA principles and convert them into detailed CAD designs (SolidWorks).
• Create 3D models, assembly drawings, part drawings, BOMs and GD&T-compliant documentation.
• Perform calculations including stress analysis, deflection, load paths, thermal considerations, vibration behavior, etc.

2. Automation Test Setup Integration

• Collaborate with automation, electrical, and software teams to integrate sensors, actuators, pneumatics, motors, encoders, cameras, and other automation elements.
• Support design of mechanical interfaces for test electronics (PCB test fixtures, connectors, bed-of-nails, pogo pin fixtures).

3. Prototyping & Manufacturing

• Lead prototype fabrication using 3D printing, CNC machining, sheet metal, laser cutting, rapid prototyping suppliers.
• Conduct design reviews, tolerance stack-ups, and manufacturability assessments.
• Work with vendors for cost, feasibility, and production readiness of test fixtures.

4. Testing, Validation & Reliability

• Validate mechanical performance of test jigs under real test conditions.
• Perform root cause analysis and improvements when failures occur.
• Ensure safety compliance and ergonomic design for operator-used setups.

5. Project Ownership & Documentation

• Own end-to-end delivery of test fixture projects including planning, timelines, and cost.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation: test jig manuals, assembly instructions, maintenance guidelines.
• Collaborate with operations/quality to scale test jigs for high-volume manufacturing.

Mandatory skills:

• Hands-on experience designing PCB test fixtures, bed-of-nails setups, or automated assembly/test jigs.
• Strong CAD proficiency (SolidWorks).
• Excellent understanding of mechanisms, motion systems, pneumatics, motors, actuators, linear guides, bearings.
• Expertise in GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
• Experience with material selection (aluminum, steel, engineering plastics, composites).
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes – machining, sheet metal, 3D printing, surface finishing.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.

Desired skills:

• Experience in reliability test jigs (vibration, thermal cycling, environmental).
• Knowledge of industrial automation components (PLC, sensors, vision systems).
• Understanding of PCB design or electronics is a plus.
• Experience with Python automation interfaces (at least understanding).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience:

  5-8 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in test engineering, automation, robotics, or precision fixture design.

• Education:

  BE / B. Tech / M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
