What You’ll Do:
This position is responsible for developing new technologies in the field of Vehicle Electrification for Eaton’s Mobility business group. As a member of this new technology development/ R&D team, you will lead power electronics architecture/design of Inverter (HV DC-AC) and HV/LV DCDC converters. This involves working with research and development teams across multiple regions (U.S., Europe and Asia) and divisions within Mobility Group, Global Innovation Centers, and Eaton Research Labs (ERL). Incumbent will be responsible for demonstrating Proof of concept design starting from establishing requirements through Secondary research/ benchmarking/ customer inputs, conceptualizing unique/ differentiated solutions that outperform competitor products in performance, cost and reliability and carry out verification and validation(V&V).

- The individual will be responsible for developing high power density product designs involving electrical / power electronics / hardware design and interface designs from End-to-end.
- Optimize design for energy efficiency and various performance strategies using physical modeling or simulation tools and providing technical expertise and guidance to team members and mentoring new engineers.
- Champions innovative solutions for High power LV inverter/DC-DC Converter topologies, Switching methods and control, HV/LV gate driver, isolated and isolated design and HV/LV protection; Filters and magnetics design and solid-state device selection.
- Leads project level deliverables in High-Speed Communication Circuits, and Digital and Analog Controls, I/O Interface Circuits and Control Hardware.
- Develop products to comply performance, functional safety, reliability and cost requirements.
- Writes and maintains product specifications and functional specifications of design solutions for product to meet performance, functional safety and reliability.
- Develop engineering tools and continuously improves operational efficiency.
- Generate a pipeline of high quality ideas/ solutions within a short time frame that outperforms the competition on performance, packaging, reliability and cost.
A successful candidate will need knowledge and have prior experience of commercial vehicle product development process at system and subsystem levels.
Qualifications:
B.E/B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering with 10+ years of experience or M.E/M.Tech in Power Electronics with 6 to 8 years of experience / Ph.D in Power Electronics – hardware & control
Skills:
- Proven track record in engineering research / analysis / product design in HV/LV DC-AC inverter, DC-DC Converter Power electronics
- Required experience in new product/ technology development projects and in the field of power electronics
- Experience in hardware system design including end to end product development involving analog & digital circuit design with 16/32 /64 bit microcontroller based designs, development, verification & validation, qualification & certification testing, launch support
- Exposure / Hands on experience on Digital Communication protocols like CAN, LIN, RS232, SPI, I2C etc
- Experience in following tools - MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice/ LT Spice/ Simetrix, PSIM/SABER
- Experience in Hybrid/ Vehicle electrification
Preferred / Additional Specialized Knowledge
- Experience in pulsed power, capacitor chargers, electromagnetics, microelectronics, and thermal design
- Experience in Analyzing and simulating power electronics systems including, analog, logical, and digital electronics. Leverages use of Hardware in the Loop simulation systems
- Experience in Validation, Verification and Certification of Auto domain
- Knowledge of Reliability for Embedded system Design
- Understanding of DFSS tools like FMEA, FMECA, Monte Carlo Analysis etc
- Experience in ISO 26262 functional safety processes
- Knowledge of quality standards and certifications (IATF 16949, ISO9001, ISO14001)
