Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced

Senior Database Developer

with strong expertise in

SQL, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, Data Modeling, ETL development, and Performance Tuning

. The ideal candidate will design, develop, optimize, and maintain scalable database solutions that support enterprise-grade applications and analytical workloads. The role involves close collaboration with data engineers, application developers, and business teams to ensure data accuracy, performance, and reliability.

Responsibilities

Database Development

Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL, PL/SQL, and PostgreSQL database objects (tables, views, functions, triggers, procedures).
Build and optimize ETL pipelines to process large volumes of structured and semi-structured data.
Develop reusable database components and automation scripts.

Data Modeling

Design logical and physical data models, schemas, and data flow structures.
Ensure data architecture aligns with business requirements and system performance needs.
Maintain data dictionaries and metadata documentation.

Integration & ETL

Implement and optimize ETL/ELT processes using industry best practices.
Integrate data from multiple sources, including APIs, cloud systems, and legacy databases.
Ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance during ingestion and transformation.

Performance Optimization

Conduct database tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
Analyze slow-running queries and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of database environments.

Collaboration & Support

Work with application development teams to support backend database needs.
Collaborate with data engineering and BI teams for reporting and analytics requirements.
Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and provide production support when required.

Required Skills & Experience

6+ years of professional experience as a Database Developer.
Strong hands-on expertise in:

SQL and Advanced PL/SQL
PostgreSQL development
Data Modeling (Entity-Relationship diagrams, normalization, schema design)
ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration
Performance tuning (query optimization, indexing, execution plans)

Experience handling large datasets and high-performance transactional systems.
Strong knowledge of RDBMS concepts, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and packages.
Familiarity with data warehousing principles and best practices.
Exposure to cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) is an added advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Certifications in PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL, or related database technologies.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
