As a Senior Database Developer at SKO Systems, you will serve as a subject matter expert in database architecture, performance optimization, and backend integration across SKO\SaaS platforms. You will be responsible for designing efficient and scalable data systems, leading SQL development efforts, ensuring high availability and data integrity, and contributing to backend development in full\-stack environments. Additionally, you will participate in strategic technical decisions, mentor junior developers, and collaborate with DevOps and Product teams to ensure high\-quality database solutions that meet business objectives.
Essential Functions \/ Deliverables
Database Architecture, Design Development:
- Design relational and distributed database schemas forscalability, performance, and normalization
- Develop and maintain SQL queries, PL\/SQL packages, storedprocedures, views, triggers, and functions
- Define and enforce data modelling standards
- Support both OLTP and OLAP environments
Performance Tuning Optimization:
- Perform advanced query tuning, indexing strategies, andplan analysis
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks and slow queries
- Optimize large\-volume transactions and reportingperformance across databases
- Automate monitoring and alerting of performanceissues
Database Administration and Environment Management:
- Manage deployments, patches, backups, restores, andupgrades of Oracle\/PostgreSQL\/MySQL environments
- Implement high\-availability and failover solutions
- Ensure data security, access controls, and auditreadiness
- Design strategies for replication and data migration
Backend and Full\-Stack Integration:
- Work with backend developers (Python, Java) to integratedatabase logic into applications
- Design and consume RESTful APIs to facilitate secure dataexchange
- Participate in full\-stack development withoccasional involvement in frontend tasks (HTML\/CSS\/JS) , .NET Framework, .NET CORE.
Cross\-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with QA, DevOps, Product Managers, and UXteams
- Translate business requirements into technicalspecifications
- Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning,retrospectives, and demos
- Represent database engineering in cross\-departmentalforum
Documentation, Standards Governance:
- Create and maintain technical documentation, ER diagrams,SOPs, and version history
- Promote database best practices, naming conventions, andchange control policies
- Contribute to SKO\internal knowledge base andtechnical wiki
Cloud Data Strategy BI Tool Integration:
- Recommend and prototype cloud\-native DB solutions (e.g.,AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL)
- Explore integration with BI\/reporting platforms such asSSRS, Power BI, Metabase
- Develop ETL\/ELT data pipelines as required foranalytics initiatives
Mentoring Continuous Improvement:
- Guide junior team members and perform code reviews
- Identify skills gaps and propose internal trainingsessions
- Lead database\-focused proof\-of\-concept (PoC)initiatives and tech evaluations
Linux Environment Shell Scripting and Cloud BI ToolExperience will be an added advantage.
Requirements Education: Bachelor\degree in Computer science, Engineering, or a related field
Certifications (Preferred): Certifications in Oracle \/ PostgreSQL\/ AWS \/ GCP
Required Professional Experience
- 8\10+ years of hands\-on database developmentexperience in enterprise or product\-based environments
- Proven track record working on complex SQL systems,backend integrations, and performance tuning
- Experience working in Agile or DevOps\-based teams
Technical\/Computer Skills
- Database Platforms: Oracle, MySQL
- Languages: SQL, PL\/SQL, Python, Java, JavaScript
- Frameworks\/Tools: Oracle Apex, REST APIs, SSRS\/SSIS,Shell Scripting
