Role Summary

At Astrum, a Consultant/ Senior Consultant ESG plays a crucial role in shaping and driving clients' ESG strategies. 


This role involves leading projects, guiding Associates/Senior Associates, and collaborating closely with clients to develop and implement ESG frameworks. The role encompasses managing deliverables, identifying business opportunities, and maintaining exceptional standards in client engagements. 

Additionally, the Consultant/Senior Consultant serves as a trusted advisor to clients, fostering strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders to align ESG initiatives with business objectives and regulatory requirements. 


Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree

  • Environmental Science, Climate Change, Sustainability, Business Management, Economics, or related fields. 


Master’s degree

  • MA, MSc, MPhil, MBA 
  • From a global top 50 university.  


Experience

  • 5–8 years in ESG consulting, sustainability, or a related domain, with experience in managing projects and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Guidance

  • Lead the design and execution of comprehensive ESG strategies for clients. 
  • Provide strategic advisory on connecting ESG with Reputation, Risk, and Regulation. 

Project Leadership

  • Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery while managing timelines and budgets. 
  • Mentor and guide Associates/Senior Associates in their roles. 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage directly with senior client stakeholders to build trust and align ESG objectives. 
  • Support stakeholder mapping and engagement strategies. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure project success. 
  • Collaborate and support the core client team with any requirements they may have. 
  • Deliver outcomes that generate client loyalty. 
  • Build trust and respect with decision makers and influencers. 

ESG Framework Development

  • Drive the development and implementation of ESG frameworks tailored to client needs. 
  • Contribute to high-stakes deliverables such as sustainability reports, governance frameworks, and materiality assessments. 

Reporting and Documentation

  • Draft ESG disclosures, compliance reports, and other key documents for your client. 
  • Ensure alignment with global standards such as GRI, DJSI, CDP, BRSR, CSRD, SASB, or TCFD. 
  • Overlook the briefing documents, presentations, and other day-to-day documents being sent to clients. 

Business Development

  • Identify new business opportunities and contribute to proposal creation. 
  • Strengthen client relationships to drive long-term partnerships. 

Product and Service Development

  • Collaborate with the Principal/Partner to conceptualise and develop innovative products and service offerings, ensuring Astrum remains at the forefront of industry trends. 

 

Required Skills and Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of ESG frameworks and reporting standards. 
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) and presentation software. 
  • Ability to synthesise complex ESG data into actionable insights. 
  • Able to think strategically and align with the client/industry requirements. 
  • Ability to go beyond the ESG mandate by connecting broader aspects of Reputation, Risk, and Regulation to ESG strategies. 
  • GHG Accounting and Carbon-Neutral/Net-Zero Strategy. 

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and people management abilities. 
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. 
  • High emotional intelligence to navigate complex stakeholder environments. 

ESG Landscape Acumen

  • Deep understanding of ESG risks, opportunities, and their impact on business performance. 
  • Familiarity with industry-specific requirements, regulations, and expectations.
