Sales Head / Sales Lead — Build & Own a New D2C Sales Vertical (Built-from-Scratch) Location: Gurugram, 6 days work from office Timings: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Mon–Sat Joining: Immediate Hiring a hands-on Sales Head to create a D2C sales org from zero and lead a new vertical end-to-end — hiring, coaching, channel ops, and P&L responsibility for the vertical (gemstones / astrology / gifting / whichever vertical we assign). Role summary We need a player-coach who has already built a B2C/D2C sales function from scratch — hires and trains the team, designs playbooks for both consultative (high-ticket) and transactional (low-ticket) selling, owns weekly revenue targets, and scales a dependable revenue engine for a new vertical. This person will report to the founders/Head of Revenue and own the vertical’s topline, margins and hiring plan. What you’ll own Build & lead a 3–20 person sales organisation for a new D2C vertical (telesales, BDEs, account managers, ops). End-to-end revenue for the vertical: funnel design (traffic → leads → web conversions → consults → closed deals → repeat). Create hiring, onboarding, training and career ladders for sales hires. Design consultative selling flows for high-ticket SKUs and repeatable scripts for low-ticket items. Set commissions, incentive plans, and performance KPIs; run weekly 1:1s & coaching. Integrate sales with website, CX, marketing, and operations (cart rescue, click-to-call, consult scheduling). Build SOPs: lead qualification, pricing exceptions, returns/resolution, revenue reconciliation. Own forecasting, daily/weekly reporting, margin protection mechanics and target achievement. Negotiate & manage partnership opportunities relevant to the vertical (B2B gifting, events, marketplace pilots where needed). Must-have Proven experience building a sales org from scratch for a consumer / D2C business and running it end-to-end. If they can’t show the “from-zero” story, reject. 6–12+ years in consumer sales / e-commerce / D2C sales leadership (senior ICs with evidence ok; 8+ preferred). Track record of hiring, ramping, and coaching telesales/BDE teams (share hires, ramp metrics). Comfortable with both consultative closes (high-ticket) and high-volume transactional selling. Hands-on: spends time on calls, closes deals, writes scripts, and interprets weekly funnel numbers. Strong analytics: CRM reporting, conversion math, comfortable with Shopify/Excel/BI or basic SQL. Experience in defining/operating commission plans and incentive mechanics. Clear examples of impact: revenue growth, conversion uplift, CAC reduction or team performance improvements. Nice-to-have Experience in lifestyle / gifting / jewelry / spiritual / astrology categories. Familiarity with Klaviyo/Recharge/HubSpot/Shopify/WhatsApp commerce integrations. Festival/seasonal scaling experience (Diwali/Kumbh peaks). Marketplace negotiation experience (Amazon/Flipkart) for partnership pilots.
