Job Summary:

Purchase Merchandiser

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supplier Sourcing & Relationship Management

  • Identify and source new suppliers and product articles.
  • Manage vendor onboarding and build long-term partnerships through effective communication and performance tracking.
  1. Purchase Order Management

  • Create and manage purchase orders with complete specifications and accuracy.
  • Track purchase orders and ensure timely updates and follow-ups with suppliers.
  1. Demand Planning & Market Trend Analysis

  • Plan purchases based on current sales performance, stock movement, and seasonal trends.
  • Ensure inventory is aligned with customer demand and market relevance.
  1. Purchase Data Maintenance

  • Maintain and regularly update purchase records and data logs.
  • Periodically review purchase data to ensure accuracy and support data-driven decisions.
  1. Cross-Department Coordination

  • Work closely with the

    production team

    for timely material handover and garment completion.
  • Coordinate with the

    warehouse

    for proper storage and stock organization.
  1. Pre-Production Sample Approvals

  • Manage the pre-production sample approval process, ensuring quality and design specifications are met before bulk production.
  1. Dispatch & Logistics Coordination

  • Track shipments, manage dispatch schedules, and follow up with vendors for timely delivery of goods and repeat orders.
  1. Quality Control & Issue Resolution

  • Oversee quality checks on all incoming purchases.
  • Address and resolve any issues related to product quality or production.
  1. Inventory & Stock Monitoring

  • Analyze sales data and stock reports to manage fast/slow-moving items.
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained to avoid overstock or shortages.
  1. Purchase & Inventory Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain reports for fabric and ready goods procurement.
  • Generate stock and inventory status reports for internal review.
  1. Labeling & Production Support


  • Dispatch tags/labels to suppliers for labeling and production.
  • Ensure labeling accuracy as per brand guidelines.
  1. Model Shoot Coordination


  • Follow up on model shoots to ensure proper execution and timely coordination with relevant teams.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Textile Design, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in purchase merchandising or procurement (preferably in garments/fashion industry).
  • Strong vendor negotiation and coordination skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Tally/ERP systems, and email communication.
  • Good knowledge of fabric, trims, and garment production processes.
  • Analytical, organized, and able to handle multi-tasking under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
