Purchase Manager

Job Location --- Meerut-UP

Key Responsibilities

• Sourcing & Vendor Management
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for wires, conductors (copper, aluminium), insulation materials (PVC, XLPE, etc.), packing materials, tools, and other production inputs.
• Maintain and develop a supplier database; perform vendor audits and assess vendor performance (quality, delivery, cost).
• Develop new vendor sources to reduce dependency and improve negotiation leverage.
• Purchasing & Ordering
• Raise purchase requisitions based on production / engineering / QC requirements.
• Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs), ensuring specifications are clear (size, material, finish), terms are favorable (price, payment terms, delivery time).
• Follow up on POs and expedite deliveries when needed to avoid production delays.
• Cost Control & Negotiation
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, discount schemes etc. with suppliers to secure best deals without compromising quality.
• Track market trends, input material price fluctuations; propose alternate materials or vendors if cost-benefit is favorable.
• Prepare comparative statements or analysis to support procurement decisions.
• Quality & Specification Compliance
• Ensure materials procured meet required specifications (gauge, purity, insulation standards, tolerance etc.).
• Coordinate with quality / engineering / R&D departments to verify technical drawings, sample approvals, and compliance.
• Inventory / Stock Management
• Monitor inventory levels to avoid overstock or stockouts.
• Forecast demand (based on production plan, seasonal demand, lead times).
• Coordinate with stores / warehouse to ensure FIFO / storage norms are maintained.
• Coordination & Communication
• Liaise with internal teams (Production / Engineering / Quality / Stores / Accounts) to understand requirements, resolve issues.
• Maintain transparency in lead-times; inform teams about possible delays or changes.
• Documentation & Record Keeping
• Maintain records of POs, vendor communications, invoices, inspection reports, delivery schedules, performance metrics.
• Prepare regular reports (weekly / monthly) on purchase costs, vendor performance, shortages, savings achieved.
• Compliance & Policy Adherence
• Adhere to company procurement policies, legal requirements (contracts), safety / environmental standards.
• If imports are involved, ensure customs / shipping / regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications / Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain / Logistics, or related field.
• 2-8 years experience in purchasing / procurement, preferably in wire / cable / manufacturing industry.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Good understanding of technical specifications for wires, insulation, materials etc.
• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with ERP / procurement software is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills, both written & verbal.
• Able to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and ensure delivery to timelines.

Preferred (Optional)

• Experience in CNC / press wiring operations or related manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of Import / Export procedures if sourcing internationally.
• Experience in cost-reduction programs, alternate materials, value engineering.
• Certifications in supply-chain / procurement (e.g. CIPS, ISM)

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Timely procurement (adherence to lead times).
• Cost savings achieved vs budget.
• Vendor on-time delivery rate.
• Quality rejection rate of purchased materials.
• Inventory turnover, stock-out incidents.
• Compliance with purchase policies & budget.

Experience required 3 to 10 Years

Salary Budget (Min-Max Range) 30 to 50K Experience based
