We are a leading Industrial Machinery Manufacturing Company based in Maharashtra, committed to delivering high-quality, reliable engineering solutions. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Purchase Engineer to join our Procurement team and manage the sourcing of technical components, raw materials, and machinery parts essential for our manufacturing process.

Job Summary

The Technical Purchase Engineer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing technical materials and services required for production and operations. This role demands a strong technical background combined with keen negotiation skills to ensure the procurement of high-quality goods at the best possible value, in compliance with company standards and timelines.

Roles and Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Source and procure a wide range of technical items, including machined parts, standard components (bearings, fasteners, electricals), raw materials (steel, castings, forgings), and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) items, based on engineering specifications and production requirements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new, reliable suppliers and vendors both locally and nationally, focusing on quality, cost-effectiveness, and delivery capabilities.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about material costs, technological advancements, and supply chain trends relevant to the machinery manufacturing industry.

Technical Analysis & Quality Assurance

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications (BOMs - Bill of Materials) to ensure accurate procurement of materials.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design, Production, and Quality Control teams to clarify technical requirements and specifications for materials and components.
  • Ensure all procured materials meet the required quality standards and comply with relevant industry standards and internal specifications.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for sample approvals and first-article inspections (FAI).

Commercial & Negotiation

  • Prepare and issue Request for Quotation (RFQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP) to potential suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms of payment, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings and favorable contract terms.
  • Process purchase orders (PO) accurately and efficiently, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
  • Manage and track supplier performance based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as quality, on-time delivery, and cost.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and organized procurement records, supplier data, contracts, and pricing databases.
  • Assist in inventory management by coordinating material delivery schedules with production needs to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
  • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and relevant legal/regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in technical purchasing, sourcing, or procurement, preferably in an Industrial Machinery or Heavy Engineering/Manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with various raw materials, manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, casting), and standard industrial components.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally) is a plus.
  • Strong command over MS Office Suite, especially Excel, for data analysis and reporting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹16,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
