Purchase Engineer
Role Overview
The Purchase Engineer is responsible for efficiently managing the sourcing and procurement of detail parts, raw materials, and cutting tools, including the outsourcing of components required for production. This role ensures the timely availability of regular and spare detail parts from multiple suppliers, supporting daily assembly line operations within strict timelines.
Key Responsibilities
· Domestic sourcing and procurement of detail parts, raw materials, cutting tools, and outsourced items to support production requirements.
· Procure and manage inventory for regular and spare detail parts from various suppliers, ensuring uninterrupted assembly line production.
· Float Requests for Quotation (RFQs), conduct supplier selection, perform Make vs Buy analysis, and ensure timely release of Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs).
· Track material deliveries and vendor payments, ensuring adherence to schedules and contractual terms.
· Monitor expenses with each supplier and drive cost reduction initiatives through long-term agreements.
· Execute vendor performance reviews, analyse price variances, develop new vendors, and negotiate pricing.
· Maintain and expand the vendor base, implementing effective material planning to optimise production efficiency and cash flow in line with business objectives and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets.
· Handle Return to Vendor (RTV) and Returnable Gate Pass (RGP) operations in cases of nonconformance.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams for cost optimisation, Bill of Materials (BOM) updates, Supply Chain Note (SCN) approvals, and PO releases to ensure timely material delivery.
· Work closely with customers, engineering, and quality teams to resolve queries and suggest improvements for supplier performance.
· Develop and execute overall supply chain management strategies, directing activities and operations to support business goals.
· Serve as the focal point for material purchasing, coordinating with contractors, vendors, and internal teams on procurement, logistics, and expediting.
· Negotiate with vendors on quality standards, pricing, lead times, transportation, and other commercial terms.
· Ensure smooth and timely dispatch of goods to customers in coordination with logistics teams.
Qualifications and Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
· Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, and supply chain management.
· Strong negotiation, vendor management, and analytical skills.
· Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
· Ability to work under tight schedules and manage multiple priorities.
Reporting
The Purchase Engineer reports to the Supply Chain Manager or Procurement Head and works closely with production, engineering, quality, and logistics teams.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
