The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our metal fabrication production operations, from raw material to finished goods. This critical role involves planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the manufacturing process to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a deep understanding of metal fabrication techniques, lean manufacturing principles, and a proven track record of optimizing production processes.
Key Responsibilities: Production Planning & Scheduling: Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and forecasts to meet customer demands and optimize resource utilization. Coordinate with sales, engineering, and supply chain departments to ensure timely availability of materials and information.
Monitor production progress against schedules and make necessary adjustments to address bottlenecks or delays.
Operations Management: Oversee all stages of metal fabrication, including cutting, bending, welding, forming, machining, finishing, and assembly.
Ensure efficient workflow, optimal machine utilization, and adherence to production targets. Implement and maintain lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma) to drive continuous improvement.
Identify and resolve production issues, technical problems, and quality discrepancies.
Quality Assurance & Control: Establish and enforce rigorous quality control standards throughout the production process. Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to conduct inspections, identify root causes of defects, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure all products meet design specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements.
Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of production supervisors, team leads, and fabrication personnel. Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development needs.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and results-oriented work environment. Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Safety & Compliance: Conduct regular safety audits, identify potential hazards, and implement preventative measures. Ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of all machinery and equipment.
Cost Management & Efficiency: Monitor and control production costs, identifying opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality. Optimize material usage, reduce scrap, and minimize waste. Implement efficiency improvements and process optimizations to enhance productivity.
Reporting & Analysis: Generate regular production reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery. Analyze production data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas requiring attention. Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
