Job Description

Job Summary (JS)

The Product Sourcing & R&D; Manager oversees new product development, vendor sourcing,

product formulation, packaging development, quality testing, documentation, cost control,

production coordination, and product lifecycle improvements. This role acts as the bridge between

the company, manufacturers, innhouse production, R&D; labs, procurement, warehouse, QA, and marketing teams.

Key Responsibilities

A. NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT (NPD) – CORE RESPONSIBILITY

  • Identify product ideas through market research, distributor feedback, consumer trends, and

competitor analysis.

  • Develop complete product concepts including ingredients, benefits, positioning, target segment,

and pricing.

  • Coordinate with R&D; labs and manufacturers for multiple product samples until final formulation

approval.

  • Conduct internal testing cycles with staff and selected leaders; analyze and document feedback.
  • Ensure product performance, stability, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage launch timelines, documentation, and handover to operations and marketing teams.

B. Vendor Sourcing & Development

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable product manufacturers and raw material suppliers.
  • Conduct capability audits and verify certifications.
  • Negotiate pricing, MOQs, and delivery timelines.
  • Build multinvendor sourcing to ensure reliability and continuity.

C. Product Quality Assurance

  • Work closely with QA to monitor sample quality, batch consistency, and compliance.
  • Review COA, stability reports, microbial testing, and lab results.
  • Resolve quality issues raised by field teams or distributors.
  • Maintain product improvement logs.

D. Costing & Pricing Strategy

  • Prepare detailed product costing sheets including RM, PM, manufacturing, logistics, and

overheads.

  • Suggest MRP and distributor price based on competitive analysis and internal margin strategy.
  • Optimize cost without compromising product quality.

E. Packaging Development

  • Finalize bottles, jars, tubes, caps, labels, cartons, and all packaging components.
  • Ensure packaging durability, print accuracy, and branding compliance.
  • Coordinate with design & print vendors for timely availability.

F. Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure compliance with:

– FSSAI

– AYUSH

– Cosmetic Rules

– Legal packaging requirements

  • Maintain complete documentation including MSDS, COA, lab test reports, stability testing, and

product registration documents.

G. Coordination With Other Departments

  • Align new products with marketing strategy, warehouse readiness, training content, compliance

documentation, and launch planning.

  • Work with procurement and supply chain for timely availability of RM and PM.

H. PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT & REFORMULATION

  • Analyze customer feedback, distributor suggestions, return cases, and product complaints.
  • Recommend necessary improvements in formulation, fragrance, stability, or packaging.
  • Work with production and R&D; labs to execute improvements.

I. MANUFACTURING UNIT COORDINATION (IMPORTANT)

  • Coordinate daily with innhouse production managers for batch planning.
  • Ensure RM (Raw Material) and PM (Packaging Material) availability as per production schedule.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly production plans to avoid stock shortages.
  • Monitor innprocess quality control (IPQC) during manufacturing:

– pH

– Viscosity

– Density

– Microbial parameters

  • Approve finished goods batches before release to warehouse.
  • Lead improvements in production efficiency, reducing wastage and rework.
  • Ensure manufacturing unit follows GMP, cosmetic rules, Ayush guidelines, and proper batch

documentation (BMR/BPR).

  • Oversee packaging line quality: sealing, labeling, printing, and packaging integrity.
  • Conduct factory audits to ensure compliance and operational discipline.

6. Required Skills & Qualifications

Skills Required:

  • Strong NPD and product formulation understanding
  • Vendor negotiation and sourcing expertise
  • Packaging development knowledge
  • Quality testing and documentation understanding
  • Strong coordination, communication, and project management
  • Analytical and creative problemnsolving skills
  • Knowledge of FMCG/herbal/wellness industry regulations

Qualifications:

  • B.Pharm / B.Sc / M.Sc / MBA preferred
  • 2–5 years experience in FMCG, herbal, healthcare, nutraceuticals, or cosmetics
  • Experience with innhouse production environments preferred

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹55,864.08 per month
