Project description

We are seeking a PMO / Portfolio Lead to manage large-scale banking technology portfolios, including Murex and other Capital Markets platforms. This role requires strong expertise in governance, financial management, vendor contracting, resource planning, and strategic advisory. You will oversee end-to-end portfolio delivery, ensure compliance, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Portfolio Governance & PMO Leadership

Establish and maintain governance frameworks for technology programs.

Drive intake, approval, and KPI tracking processes.

Financial Management & Reporting

Manage budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis for multi-million-dollar portfolios.

Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IAS 38) and internal controls.

Contracting & Resource Management

Oversee Statements of Work (SoWs), renewals, and vendor negotiations.

Manage onboarding, backfills, and resource allocation across programs.

Risk & Issue Management

Identify risks, maintain mitigation plans, and provide executive dashboards.

Process Improvement & Standardization

Implement PMO best practices, automation, and reporting enhancements.

Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement

Act as a liaison between technology teams, business units, and external vendors.

Negotiate rate cards and optimize vendor performance.

Career Growth Path

Short-Term: Lead PMO for critical banking platforms.

Mid-Term: Progress to Portfolio Manager or Head of PMO.

Long-Term: Move into Director of Program Management or Transformation Office Lead roles

Skills

Must have

10+ years in PMO, Program Management, or Portfolio Governance roles.

Core Competencies

1. Contracting & SoW Expertise

Ability to draft, review, and manage Statements of Work.

Understanding of contractual terms, compliance, and renewal cycles.

Familiarity with vendor-supplied contractual models (T&M/FP).

2. Resource Management

Proven experience in managing new hires, backfills, and renewals.

Forecasting resource needs and aligning with project timelines.

Familiarity with vendor-supplied resource models (onsite/offshore).

3. Financial Acumen

Strong budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis skills.

Ability to interpret financial data and make cost optimization recommendations.

Understanding of rate card benchmarking and cost-benefit analysis.

4. Strategic Thinking

Capability to analyze portfolio data and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.

Provide actionable insights to leadership for vendor strategy and resource planning.

Influence decision-making at senior levels.

5. Vendor Management

Experience managing large vendors (mainly IT services partners).

Ability to assess vendor performance and enforce SLAs.

Skilled in relationship management and conflict resolution.

6. Governance & Reporting

Expertise in PMO governance frameworks and compliance.

Ability to produce executive-level dashboards and reports.

Familiarity with tools like Fieldglass, JIRA, etc.

7. Stakeholder Management

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Ability to manage multiple senior stakeholders across business and technology.

Experience in influencing without direct authority.

8. Process Improvement

Track record of implementing PMO best practices.

Ability to streamline contracting and resourcing processes.

Familiarity with Agile PMO or hybrid delivery models.

KPIs & Success Metrics

Timely execution of SoWs and renewals (100% compliance).

Accuracy of financial forecasts vs. actuals ( 95%).

Reduction in vendor costs through negotiation and optimization.

Stakeholder satisfaction score ( 4/5).
