Job Description

Job Title:

Plant Head – Radiator Manufacturing (Transformer Industry)

Location:

Vadodara

Reports To:

Managing Director

Experience:

8+ years in transformer components or heavy fabrication industry, with 5+ years in a plant leadership role

Position Objective

To lead and manage the full spectrum of manufacturing operations for transformer radiators, ensuring operational excellence, high-quality production, cost optimization, workforce efficiency, and on-time delivery. The role demands strong experience in sheet metal fabrication, welding processes, and knowledge of transformer industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Operations & Production Management
Oversee complete operations of the radiator manufacturing unit including fabrication, welding, surface treatment (painting), assembly, and testing.
Plan and execute production schedules in line with customer orders and business demand.
Ensure on-time delivery of quality products while meeting productivity and efficiency targets.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure strict compliance with transformer radiator specifications (IS, IEC, and customer-specific standards).
Supervise in-process and final inspections, including pressure testing, leak detection, and surface finish checks.
Lead efforts to maintain ISO 9001/14001/45001 certifications and internal QMS.
Process Improvement & Cost Control
Drive continuous improvement through Lean, Kaizen, 5S, and TPM initiatives.
Reduce manufacturing costs through scrap reduction, process automation, and efficient resource planning.
Implement process enhancements for welding (TIG, MIG), fin forming, and degreasing/paint booth systems.
Equipment & Maintenance
Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance for critical machinery (fin forming lines, welding jigs, paint booths, etc.).
Evaluate and implement automation and modern technologies to enhance productivity.
People Leadership
Lead a cross-functional team including production, quality, maintenance, and logistics staff.
Create a high-performance work culture with clear KPIs and accountability.
Guide recruitment, training, and development for shop-floor and supervisory roles.
Coordination with Internal and External Stakeholders
Collaborate with sales, design, and SCM teams to meet delivery and customization requirements.
Liaise with suppliers for timely availability of CRCA sheets, paint, gases, and consumables.

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong technical knowledge of radiator and sheet metal fabrication processes
Expertise in welding, NDT, and pressure testing methods
Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
Proven ability to manage P&L and plant budgeting
