To manage and deliver timely, reliable production across all fabrication sections, ensuring adherence to plans released by PPC. The role requires direct leadership of Section In-Charges, oversight of daily shift execution, early resolution of delays, and coordination with Maintenance, Stores, and Quality. In a new greenfield plant, the Production Head is responsible for building discipline, team capability, and section readiness without depending on multiple supervisory layers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Leadership
  • Lead and coordinate shift-based execution across:
o CNC Cutting & Beam Welding Section
o Manual Welding Bay (15+ Cells) o Shot Blasting & Painting Section
  • Ensure daily/weekly/monthly targets are achieved as per the PPC plan.
  • Monitor WIP, ensure jobs are complete with required parts, and secure QC clearances before dispatch.
  • Intervene promptly when any job is stuck or behind schedule.
2. Section Oversight
  • Directly manage Section In-Charges, providing guidance on job priorities, manpower allocation, and shift discipline.
  • Step in where needed to resolve section-level bottlenecks or escalations.
  • Balance workloads between sections when competing demands arise.
3. Adherence to Plan
  • Conduct daily and weekly production reviews to check adherence against the PPC-released plan.
  • Identify deviations early and take corrective actions (manpower redeployment, sequencing changes, escalation to Plant Head).
  • Work with PPC to update plans when external constraints (drawing, material, QC) require adjustment.
4. Coordination with Other Functions
  • Collaborate with Stores for the timely availability of material and consumables.
  • Align with Maintenance to ensure high machine availability.
  • Escalate delays due to drawings, manpower shortages, or external dependencies.
5. Quality & Safety
  • Ensure fabrication meets specifications “first-time-right,” with support from QA/QC.
  • Enforce safety practices across shifts and ensure the readiness of equipment and the workplace.
6. Team & Shift Management
  • Deploy manpower across 2–3 shifts, balancing permanent staff and contract labour.
  • Hold daily reviews with Section In-Charges; resolve issues without micromanaging.
  • Develop skills through cross-training; build accountability within section teams.
7. Reporting & Systems Discipline
  • Track production KPIs (output, reasons for delays, section performance) and report to the Plant Head.
  • Drive discipline in job cards, WIP logs, and SAP usage (PP, MM modules).
  • Ensure accurate data capture for review and analysis.

Education

Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Metallurgy

Experience

10–15 years in heavy/structural fabrication; minimum 3 years leading 50+ workmen
