Position: Manager – Gas & Chemical Distribution System

Role Overview

The Manager will be responsible for the design review, project execution, installation, testing & commissioning, and O&M of bulk and specialty gas systems and chemical distribution systems in a solar cell & module manufacturing plant. This includes bulk storage, distribution pipelines, VMB/GOX systems, chemical delivery systems (CDS), and exhaust treatment systems. The role requires ensuring safe, reliable, and uninterrupted supply of gases and chemicals to cell and module production lines while maintaining compliance with all safety, statutory, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Phase

• Review P&IDs, equipment datasheets, layout drawings, and piping & instrumentation diagrams for gas and chemical distribution systems.
• Oversee procurement and vendor qualification for bulk storage tanks, pipelines, gas cabinets, VMBs, CDS, scrubbers, and monitoring systems.
• Supervise installation, piping works, leak testing, purging, and passivation of chemical & gas pipelines.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, and process tool vendors for integration of gas/chemical supply to process equipment.
• Ensure testing, commissioning, SAT, and handover of gas & chemical distribution systems as per safety protocols.
• Drive project timelines, budgets, and contractor performance while ensuring EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) compliance.
• Obtain statutory approvals related to explosive, hazardous chemicals, and environmental regulations.

O&M Phase

Manage round-the-clock operation & maintenance of bulk gas (N2 & O2), specialty gas (SIH4,NH3,PH3,TMA,BCl3,N2O and chemical distribution systems for solar cell & module lines.

• Ensure uninterrupted and safe supply of gases and chemicals to production tools.
• Implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies for pipelines, valves, regulators, CDS, VMBs, sensors, and monitoring systems.
• Coordinate with process, production, and EHS teams for chemical handling, emergency response, and change management.
• Manage chemical/gas storage inventory, vendor AMCs, annual budgets, and spares planning.
• Ensure reliability of gas cabinets, distribution manifolds, leak detection & alarm systems, scrubbers, and exhaust management systems.
• Conduct hazard analysis, risk assessment (HAZOP, HIRA), and ensure strict compliance to LOTO/PTW systems.
• Lead and mentor engineers, supervisors, and contractors for safe operations and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

• B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Chemical / Mechanical Engineering.
• 12–18 years of experience in gas & chemical distribution systems for semiconductor/solar cell manufacturing or similar high-reliability industries.
• Hands-on experience in:
• Bulk gas storage & distribution.
• Specialty gas distribution (high-purity pipelines, VMB/GOX, gas cabinets).
• Chemical delivery systems (bulk & specialty chemicals).

Key Skills

• Expertise in process utility systems design, commissioning, and O&M.
• Strong leadership and team management across project and operations phases.
• Knowledge of HAZOP, HIRA, SIL, and emergency response planning.
• Ability to coordinate with process & production teams for tool uptime.
• Vendor & contractor management with cost optimization focus.
