Logistics Manager

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods by coordinating with transport agencies, negotiating rates, tracking vehicles, optimizing routes, and managing all aspects of transportation logistics. This role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, as well as proficiency in creating transportation management dashboards Vendor Management: -Source and negotiate rates with transportation providers (trucking companies, railways, shipping lines) -Build and maintain strong relationships with transportation vendors -Evaluate vendor performance and identify areas for improvement Transportation Planning & Execution: -Plan and execute transportation schedules, considering factors such as delivery deadlines, product availability, and route optimization -Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., production, sales, warehousing) to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods -Track shipments in real-time using GPS, telematics, or other tracking systems -Monitor and resolve any transportation-related issues (e.g., delays, damages, accidents) Inventory Management: -Utilize computer skills to enter real-time data into transportation management systems -Analyze inventory levels and forecast future transportation needs -Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure timely loading and unloading of goods Dispatch Management: - Assign loads (full loads, part loads) to appropriate carriers based on factors such as cost, delivery time, and vehicle capacity -Provide clear and concise instructions to drivers regarding delivery routes and schedules. -Monitor driver performance and address any compliance issues. Route Optimization: -Analyze delivery routes to identify and implement cost-saving measures -Optimize delivery routes and minimize travel time. Documentation & Reporting: -Maintain accurate records of all transportation activities, including shipment details, invoices, and delivery receipts -Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as on-time delivery rates, cost per shipment, and fuel consumption. Compliance: -Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and safety standards -Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all transportation-related documents Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in. Courses in Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred Experience: 2+ years of experience in transportation logistics, preferably in a fast-paced environment .
