Role Overview


The Junior Merchandiser

This role is crucial in ensuring the right products are identified, developed, costed, and delivered on time — aligning with Hello December’s creative and commercial direction.

Key Responsibilities


1. Product Development & Curation


• Assist in developing new product ranges for private label and seasonal collections.

• Work closely with the design and styling team to source materials, samples, and prototypes.

• Track and document all product details — dimensions, finishes, codes, costing, and lead times.

• Support trend research and moodboard creation for new category introductions.


2. Vendor Coordination


• Liaise with existing and new vendors for product sampling, quotations, and production.

• Track production timelines and follow up on dispatches, delays, and quality checks.

• Maintain vendor performance sheets — pricing, lead time, defect rates, and communication.

• Ensure vendor documentation (POs, invoices, payment terms) is complete and up to date.


3. Inventory & SKU Management


• Maintain accurate product master sheets with SKU codes, pricing, and inventory data.

• Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to monitor stock movement and replenishment.

• Assist in planning new arrivals and reorders based on sales trends and stock aging reports.


4. Costing & Pricing


• Support costing analysis for new products and vendor negotiations.

• Track landed costs, margins, and final retail pricing with the product head.

• Ensure cost accuracy across catalogues and online listings.


5. Cross-Team Coordination


• Work closely with content, photography, and styling teams to ensure timely product listings and launches.

• Share updated product information with marketing and e-commerce teams.

• Collaborate with finance and logistics for billing, transport, and payment alignment.


Key Skills & Attributes

• Strong product sensibility and aesthetic understanding.

• Excellent coordination, organization, and communication skills.

• Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets (inventory, costing, tracking).

• Knowledge of home décor/furniture manufacturing processes preferred.

• Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced setup.


Preferred Experience

• 1–3 years of experience in merchandising, buying, or sourcing — preferably in décor, lifestyle, or fashion.

• Degree/diploma in Merchandising, Design, or Business Management.

• Experience working with vendors, craftsmen, or production units.
