Bloomsbury Publishing India is a dynamic and fast-growing arm of Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, a leading global independent publisher. We publish across Trade, Academic, and Professional segments, committed to delivering high-quality content to readers and professionals alike.


A Head of Marketing is responsible for planning, strategizing and leading all marketing and promotional campaigns for Bloomsbury’s consumer and children’s lists. It also includes managing budgets, and setting goals for marketing team. 


Here's an overview of their responsibilities:


Job responsibilities:

Planning and Strategy

·        Develop marketing strategy outlining annual marketing priorities

·        Develop annual marketing budget and spends across all channels

·        Outline publicity, social media, digital marketing and offline marketing plans on a quarterly basis, determine priorities across frontlist, backlist, priority authors, agency lists and children’s lists

·        Ensure bi-monthly/quarterly content calendars for social media

·        Ensure bi-monthly planning calendars for online retail, publicity and offline retail

·        Monitor, track and maintain a record of budget spends across all marketing channels

·        Monitor and track important trends in marketing and share insights for creative improvement with the team

Team management

·        Priortising team work and ensuring efficient processes

·        Overseeing all team activities. Providing inputs where necessary and monitoring progress

·        Planning and creating avenues for discussion on new marketing opportunities

·        Ongoing overview of product and social media portfolios on a daily basis

·        Planning and determining requirement of creatives and briefing team

·        Registering issues and escalating them where necessary

Stakeholder management

·        Maintaining relationship with Bloomsbury India’s key authors

·        Discussing marketing avenues and plans and setting expectations

·        Ensuring implementation of plans as laid out to authors

·        Ongoing interface with select authors for maximizing marketing potential of their books

·        Cross leveraging author contacts for wider marketing efforts where possible

·        Ongoing interface with Bloomsbury’s Publishers to understand priorities and marketing avenues

Publicity

·        Review and finalise service agreement and scope of work with media monitoring agency and other partners

·        Review and analyze trends in share of voice, competitor mapping and recommend ways of improving

·        Develop broad strategy for media relations, and maintain relationships with top editors across media

·        Build relationships with and work in close coordination with UK publicity team to stay on top of publicity requirements

·        Identify media opportunities for company spokespersons and develop content as required

·        Identify media list requirements and contribute to database management

·        Lead all lit fest related coordination and communication across all stakeholder groups

·        Identify stringer requirements and engage services as required

Digital marketing

·        Create a roadmap for digital marketing initiatives annually including all existing and emerging online mediums

·        Devise and implement division/list/series/author specific campaigns

·        Manage and positively enhance company’s online presence including on social media

·        Review and analyse social media reports on a regular basis and suggest improvements

·        Manage relationships with online retailers and explore new avenues of collaboration with them

·        Review content uploaded on Bloomsbury India’s website on a regular basis and ensure consistency

Events

·        Planning and managing events including book launches and book fairs

·        Ensuring coordination across all marketing team members to execute an event seamlessly

·        Primary contact point for the author during event execution

·        Ensuring best mileage through an event by devising a 360 degree marketing plan

·        Reviewing content for social, digital media and publicity for event activation

Vendor and Partner Management

·        Manage marketing relationships with all key retailers, online and physical, to optimize company’s presence through them.

·        Negotiating costs and ensuring quality of material meets specified standards

·        Liaise with potential venue/food/liquor partners to optimize on cost and visibility

·        Reviewing contracts and scope of work of partners engaged and updating them as required

 

Required skills and experience:

·        Work experience as Head of Marketing or similar, preferably within trade publishing industry

·        Strong understanding of trade publishing landscape

·        Experience running successful marketing campaigns

·        Knowledge of digital marketing

·        Leadership skills with the ability to set and prioritize goals

·        Analytical mind

·        Excellent communication and presentation skills

·        Preferably a Master’s degree holder in Business Management/Marketing or English Literature
