Hiring for Head of Purchase , based at Mumbai Industry preference: Manufacturing Flexibility to travel extensively at plant locations pan India essential 1. Strategic Planning & Cost Management Forecast yearly material needs and price trends based on business plans. Develop procurement strategies and present market analysis. Create and manage budgets for product-line-specific procurement. Provide finance with working capital forecasts from procurement patterns. Identify new markets/vendors and material alternatives. Maximize procurement leverage and cost standardization. 2. Purchase Operations – Local Ensure product specifications are met and approve purchase orders. Adhere to legal and corporate compliance in contracts and bids. Oversee quotation analysis, negotiations, and vendor performance. Manage purchase requisitions, item availability, and billing scrutiny. Drive improvements in KPIs like cycle time, inventory, and capacity utilization. Handle supply delays or expedition in sync with logistics. 3. Purchase Operations – Imports Manage import procurement (e.g., steel etc) Analyze commercial viability and import potential of new products. Coordinate with internal departments, government agencies, and suppliers. Negotiate terms of credit and manage forex risks. Identify international vendors through visits and trade shows. 4. Vendor Development Research and shortlist high-value, quality vendors. Maintain backup vendor pipeline and assess vendor credibility. Monitor and rate vendor performance; conduct vendor audits. Foster long-term, mutually beneficial supplier relationships. Negotiate and track contract performance and service quality. 5. Documentation, MIS & Process Control Ensure end-to-end process and SOP control: Purchase Order to GRN to vendor payment. Support accurate product pricing by sharing cost data with marketing. Generate and circulate MIS/reports for management. 6. Team Management Define manpower plans and team structures. Invest in team training, succession planning, and motivation.
