Role Overview

General Manager – Operations

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations Leadership

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of production, quality control, maintenance, purchase, and logistics.
  • Ensure on-time execution of production schedules as per sales and dispatch requirements.
  • Implement industry best practices to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Production & Process Control

  • Monitor manufacturing processes including drawing, annealing, bunching, extrusion, and final packaging.
  • Ensure compliance with BIS, ISO, and international standards.
  • Track OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and minimize downtime, scrap, and rejection.
  • Strategic Planning

  • Work closely with management to develop operational strategies aligned with company growth plans.
  • Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement programs.
  • Drive cost optimization without compromising on quality and safety.
  • Quality & Compliance

  • Collaborate with QA/QC teams to maintain product certifications and approvals.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety, statutory, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • People Management

  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional team including production supervisors, engineers, and floor staff.
  • Develop training programs to enhance workforce skills and efficiency.
  • Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and performance excellence.
  • Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with Sales Coordinator for seamless operations.
  • Present periodic MIS reports on production and operational KPIs.
  • Ensure effective use of the ERP system for production tracking, reporting, and digital operations management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education

    : B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Mechanical / Industrial / Production Engineering (preferred).
  • Experience

    : Minimum 7-10

    years in the manufacturing industry (Preferably in wires & cables)

     with at least 3

    years in a senior operational leadership role

    .
  • Strong technical knowledge of wire and cable manufacturing processes.
  • Proven expertise in plant operations, production planning, cost control, and team leadership.

Skills Required

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Expertise in lean manufacturing and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of BIS/IS and other wire & cable standards.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
