Job Description: Factory Accountant

Position Title: Factory Accountant
Department: Finance / Accounts
Reports To: Finance Manager / Plant Manager
Location Pala

Position Summary

The Factory Accountant is responsible for managing and monitoring all financial and cost-related activities within the factory. This role ensures accurate cost analysis, inventory valuation, budgeting, and financial reporting to support manufacturing operations and improve profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Accounting & Analysis

  • Prepare and maintain cost records for raw materials, labor, overheads, and finished goods.
  • Analyze production costs and variances (e.g., material, labor, overhead variances).
  • Monitor standard costs and update as necessary.
  • Conduct month-end cost closing activities and prepare cost reports.

Inventory & Production Accounting

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Perform periodic stock audits and reconcile physical counts with system balances.
  • Track material consumption, wastage, and scrap to ensure cost accuracy.
  • Assist in implementing inventory control procedures.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial and production reports for management.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes for the factory.
  • Ensure timely posting of factory-related financial transactions in the accounting system.
  • Assist in preparing audit schedules and support internal/external auditors.

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and statutory regulations.
  • Implement internal controls to safeguard factory assets.
  • Verify invoices related to factory expenses and coordinate with procurement.

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work closely with production, procurement, store, and finance teams.
  • Provide financial insights to support process improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Assist management in decision-making through accurate and timely analysis.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, CMA, CA Inter) is an advantage.
  • 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing or cost accounting roles.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (SAP, Oracle, Tally, QuickBooks, etc.).
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, analysis tools).
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From ₹18,000.00 per month
