Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Development

• Develop ergonomic and functional products including wheelchairs, office chairs,

cushions, orthotics, and insoles.

• Develop user-centric products with a focus on comfort, biomechanics, safety, and

performance.

2. Material & Component Selection

• Source and identify suitable materials (e.g., memory foam, EVA, TPU, aluminium

alloys, breathable fabrics).

• Evaluate material performance, cost-efficiency, and sourcing feasibility.

3. Manufacturing & Vendor Coordination

• To identify and define the manufacturing process for development of new

products.

• Assist in identifying and onboarding of new vendors, ensuring they meet our

quality and compliance standards.

• Collaborate with outsourced manufacturers and suppliers for timely sample

development and production.

• Provide engineering support to resolve manufacturing challenges and optimize

processes.

• Review production samples, troubleshoot defects, and implement corrective

actions.

4. Costing

• Support in evaluating development cost, unit pricing, product timelines, etc.

• Analyse costs of parts involving various machining processes, including Machine

Hour Rate (MHR) calculation and cycle time studies to achieve target-based

pricing.

• Validate costs for tooling, jigs, and fixtures and oversee the ownership of these

tools.

5. Prototyping & Testing

• Build and iterate prototypes / samples; validate performance through lab and

field testing.

• Conduct durability, load bearing, fatigue, and comfort tests as per the

requirement.

• Incorporate feedback from users and clinicians (especially for orthotics and

seating systems).

6. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials), specifications, and technical documentation.

• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and standards.

7. Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with R&D, marketing, quality control, and sourcing teams.

• Support marketing with technical inputs for product packaging, manuals, and

sales materials.

• Collaborate with the supply chain team to ensure business continuity, achieve

cost efficiency, and meet capacity targets.

8. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Explore new technologies (e.g., 3D printing, smart textiles, lightweight structures)

for product enhancement.

• Benchmark competitor products and identify innovation opportunities in

comfort, adjustability, and user mobility.

9. Field & User Testing

• Coordinate field trials with, end-users to gather real-world data.

• Analyse user feedback and iterate designs for functional and aesthetic

improvements.
