About the Role

The Deputy Manager – HR will play a key role in managing blue-collar workforce operations and supporting HR activities for staff employees at the plant. The role combines end-to-end blue-collar recruitment and deployment, liaison with contractors, HR operations support for staff (M-staff), and active participation in key HR initiatives and special projects.



Responsibilities



Blue Collar Workforce Management

  • Lead recruitment of blue-collar manpower through contractors and apprentices from ITI campuses.
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify manpower needs and develop deployment plans aligned with production requirements.
  • Focus on both the quantitative and qualitative aspects of workforce intake to ensure skill compatibility and productivity.
  • Manage all operational activities related to blue-collar employees, including:

Payroll assistance and reconciliation

Attendance and shift record management

Handling grievances via contractor coordination

Ensuring planned training (technical / safety / functional) is delivered before deployment on the shop floor

  • Drive the execution of the trainee operator hiring and deployment plan, including the segregation of core and non-core activities, documentation, and selection processes, as per defined guidelines.
  • Support internal and external audits related to blue-collar manpower by ensuring the timely submission of accurate data.



HR Operations Support for M-Staff

  • Manage HR operational activities related to Management Staff, ensuring compliance with SOPs and timelines, including:

Confirmation processes

Transfers and reporting structure updates

Profile updating and data accuracy

Reimbursements and advances handling

  • Act as the first point of contact for M-Staff on all My-World queries, or any queries on HR policies, programs and initiatives.
  • Provide operational/administrative support to Plant HR Head, Plant/Corporate COE in employee engagement programs, training programs and performance appraisal cycles, including communication, data compilation, and tracking.


Special Projects & Audits

  • Oversee the operations of the Worker Facilitation Centre in Wada, ensuring alignment with company and NGO partnership objectives and the MoU. Regularly review centre utilisation and effectiveness, providing actionable feedback and reports to leadership.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits related to the blue-collar workforce; ensure timely, accurate data submission and query resolution.
  • Support other special HR projects/initiatives as assigned by the Plant HR Head and the Manufacturing HR Head.


MIS and Data Management

  • Prepare, maintain, and submit MIS reports and dashboards periodically, covering headcount, attendance, attrition, deployment, and other HR metrics for both blue and white-collar employees.
  • Manage and ensure data integrity in HR systems; support data requirements for senior management as per needs.

Qualifications

MBA-HR / Master's in HR / PM / MSW / MLS with 8 to 10 years of experience in Plant HR, IR & Admin functions. Having experience in a plant environment is a must for this position. HR experience should preferably be with significant exposure to blue-collar workforce management in a manufacturing environment. Experience managing contractor relationships and apprenticeship recruitment is highly desirable. Hands-on experience in Blue collar manpower planning, recruitment, onboarding and deployment, and in payroll, attendance, training coordination, and grievance handling. Good understanding of HR operations, employee engagement, and performance appraisal processes.
