Job Description

Cityscope is a hyperlocal discovery platform bringing together content, creators, and communities to help people explore their city through unique experiences, stories, and happenings.

Our mission is to turn every city into a living, breathing ecosystem powered by local voices. From cultural drop-ins and book clubs to weekend plans and creator gigs we’re designing a new kind of map, made by the people who live in it.

And now, we’re looking for a kickass Community Manager to help build that map—not just by curating it, but by gathering the citizens, creators, and collaborators who will shape it.

Role Overview

You’ll be building our community engine from the ground up. You’ll work with creators, local businesses, artists, event hosts, and everyday citizens to grow engaged micro-communities across cities. You’ll design programs that turn followers into contributors, attendees into advocates, and locals into Cityscope ambassadors.

This role is perfect for someone who loves people, culture, conversations, and community design—not just content calendars.

Responsibilities

Community Building & Growth

  • Design and grow city-based WhatsApp groups, creator clubs, and interest-based channels (e.g. foodies, readers, artists).
  • Launch and moderate hyperlocal hubs—supporting events, creators, and contributors across categories.
  • Build a calendar of offline meetups, pop-ups, club events, and Cityscope-powered gatherings (book clubs, walking tours, screenings, etc.).
  • Develop rituals, challenges, and activities that keep members engaged and inspired.

Creator & Contributor Relations

  • Identify, onboard, and nurture City Contributors, event hosts, community leaders, and creators.
  • Co-create with partners on unique content drops, city walkthroughs, or experiences.
  • Support creators in launching their workshops, gigs, or storytelling formats on Cityscope.
  • Maintain relationships via thoughtful communication, feedback loops, and support systems.

Community Ops & Systems

  • Design and manage backend systems for onboarding, community rules, moderation flows, and reward programs.
  • Build documentation, SOPs, and playbooks to scale community operations across cities.
  • Work closely with the content and product teams to connect community insights to product improvements, events, or campaigns.

Communication & Engagement

  • Run weekly and monthly engagement campaigns (polls, Q&As, city shoutouts, community wins).
  • Collaborate on content to highlight community stories—reels, feature posts, or newsletter spotlights.
  • Help shape the tone and style of how Cityscope talks to its audience across touchpoints.

Strategy & Feedback

  • Track community health and growth metrics—like retention, activation, contributions, and sentiment.
  • Bring back qualitative insights and feedback from the community to help improve Cityscope.
  • Experiment with new formats, tech integrations (e.g., chatbots, badges, AI-driven curation), and offline activations.

What You Bring

Skills & Experience

  • 2–4 years in community management, creator relations, social media, or cultural programming.
  • Strong understanding of WhatsApp-first communities, digital tools, or city-based networks.
  • Experience in organizing offline events, managing contributors, or running community-led initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; Hindi + English fluency preferred.

Personality & Mindset

  • Self-Starter: You don’t wait for instructions—you prototype and make things happen.
  • Empathetic Leader: You’re a great listener and people feel heard and supported around you.
  • Culture-Obsessed: You’re tuned into what’s trending, but care deeply about the local, the real, the raw.
  • Systems Thinker: You enjoy building structures that help others thrive—on and off the internet.

Why This Role Is Special

  • You’ll shape Cityscope’s community strategy and lead future hires as we scale.
  • You’ll work at the intersection of tech, culture, and urban life, shaping the feel of our platform in every city.
  • Get to prototype your own ideas—from ritual-based communities to pop-up experiences.
  • Be part of a humble but ambitious team building something meaningful and human.
