Position Overview
Micromitti is seeking an experienced and strategic
Chief Legal Officer (CLO)
to lead all legal, regulatory, and compliance functions of the company. The CLO will serve as the principal advisor to the leadership team on legal risks, corporate governance, commercial agreements, intellectual property, data protection, and compliance frameworks. This role requires a business-oriented legal leader who can support rapid growth and ensure legal integrity across all operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Strategy & Advisory
Develop and implement Micromitti’s overall legal strategy aligned with business objectives.
Advise the CEO, executive team, and board on legal risks, rights, and obligations.Provide guidance on new initiatives, partnerships, expansions, and product launches.
- Compliance & Risk Management
Establish and maintain robust compliance frameworks (industry-specific regulations, environmental laws, data protection, labor laws, etc.).
Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the company’s operations remain compliant.Oversee internal audits and manage risk-mitigation programs.
- Contracts & Commercial Law
Draft, review, and negotiate all major agreements including vendor contracts, customer agreements, NDAs, licensing deals, partnerships, and procurement contracts.
Create standard contract templates and processes to improve efficiency.
Manage board governance processes, meetings, and documentation.
Ensure compliance with corporate laws, shareholder rights, ESOP management, and corporate structuring.Maintain statutory records and filings.
- Intellectual Property (IP) Protection
Oversee IP strategy including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
Work with R&D/tech teams to safeguard innovations and proprietary technology.
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution
Manage all external legal counsel for litigation, arbitration, or regulatory inquiries.
Oversee dispute resolution strategies to minimize exposure and cost.
Develop internal legal policies, ethics guidelines, and compliance training for employees.
Establish data privacy policies aligned with global standards (GDPR, DPDP Act, etc.).
- Leadership & Team Management
Build and lead an in-house legal team as the company grows.Foster a culture of integrity, compliance, and proactive risk management.
Qualifications
Education
LL.B from an accredited institution; LL.M preferred.Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.
Experience
12+ years of legal experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.Background in corporate law, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance.Experience with fast-scaling companies, technology firms, or manufacturing/agri-tech firms (preferred).Prior experience managing external legal counsel and internal teams.
Skills
Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, employment, contract, and IP law.Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and decision-making abilities.Ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
